I am working on a painting for Mirada Fine Art for their Holiday Push in November and December. I started this piece out more in frustration and celebration if they can be mentioned in the same sentence.  Many of you know of the battle on Facebook for me and why I am leaving the platform. The best part is you will see more of my art and process here on the blog I have had for 23 years.  Hence frustration turning to celebration. Deut.31:6  Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them,  for it is the  LORD  your God who goes with you.  He will not leave you or forsake you.” The painting began with just rust on the surface with a glaze to it. Next came the blues, the whites and finally the orange.  I do have an idea of where I am going with this.  I have an older sketch from about 12 years ago

I always walk in the mornings 3 miles... inside in cold weather...but outside. I walked Annie Dog 2 miles and she actually behaved!  Kerries are notorious for going  after game... and game is anything on four legs. Especially the fluffy white ones. We just took down the tree a few days early but so much happening in the studio and it is time for me to get back to work. Windy Days and Fleeting Feelings, Daily Painting of Horses on a windy day by Laurie Pace

Knowledge can last, habits can last, but feelings come and go. ” — CS LEWIS One of my favorite past times in the summer is to lay back on the ground (or on a float in the pool) and watch the Texas skies. The clouds are always thick and racing across the sky. They come in shapes like dogs and teddy bears.  Some are pure white and some or tinged with grey.  I have even spotted ponies in the sky. When you read the quote above about the “fleeting of feelings”, it truly puts things in perspective.  Feelings bring to mind the word visceral.  Definition: relating to deep inward feelings rather than to the intellect.  In other words,  Read More Here. “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, fo

"Summer Garden" Flower Garden Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Summer Garden' 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2006 "Let the fig tree teach you a lesson. When its branches become green and tender and it starts putting out leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin. Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. " Matthew 24:32-35 The Painting: This is an archived painting but after viewing it, I may be inspired to do a "this year" painting with the same color palette. The Thought : The verse was on Bible Verse this morning and it gave me pause to think. I always knew eventually the earth would pass away...but heaven too? From all my reading and studies I know there is no "set" time for the second coming of Christ. There se

"Sunset Sail" Contemporary Sailboat Seascape Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Wind at Sunset' 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for your own sailboat commission: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2006 "No one whose hope is in you, will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse ." Psalm 25:3 The Painting: An oldie from 2006. Fresh strokes of heavy oils created the movement of light in the sky casting the vivid brightness onto the water. Sky and water maintain the colors and the fluidity of the water appears to take over the clouds in the sky, all running closely together. The Thought: When you are anticipating something, are you waiting on God to do it His way or your way? I can answer that one...my way. I work really hard making things happen...not good huh? Yeah, I know, I have found out the hard way. Research tells me the Hebrew work 'qavah' means to bind together, look patiently, to wait or hope eagerly. The second close word in Hebrew is '

"The Great Race" Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'The Great Race' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Thank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God ." Philippians 4:6 The Painting : Taking off on a different road with this one. The horses are more defined for space; the action is in the movement of line and counter lines playing angles against each other. Colors are always vivid. The Thought : Planning ahead. Is it the Great Race? In the remodeling of this house we definitely should have had a better plan and kept a better schedule. Planning ahead I should have never lined up cable or internet until we were done. This morning I began to wake and lifted one eyelid and saw it was light in the room. Terry is on a different schedule and I knew he had to be up. My eyes flew open to the alarm clock and it was only 4 am. I realized then t

" 2 Timothy 2:1 The Painting: This is a second painting I was working on when Barbie was visiting. I finished it up yesterday. It began with a bottom layout in acrylic for value placement. From this point there are layers of oils piled on top using a wide brush. The Thought: Not sure of what it is, but I have been "down" for two days straight. Hopefully today will be better. Anytime I ate or drank water it felt like a tightening in my stomach, like an old fashioned tummy ache. Did not get to go visit our best friends in Mt Vernon yesterday...so I am a bit sad. Hopefully today I can eat again. Terry continues to rip out the bathroom in our bedroom. The shower is completely torn out and tonight I think he intends to pull out the toilet and the

Named In Search of the Bow... as the horses are running as if to find the source of the rainbow. The earth is very green after the rain. Thick areas of paint are layered and pulled across the surface. Painted with Holbein Duo Oils, this piece is pre-varnished with several coats of protection before it is shipped to you. My thoughts for the day: Have you ever run in a race before? If you were in grade school, every one lined up on a drawn mark on the ground and some one "adult-like" said "READY? Set. GO." and you ran with all your heart to the finish line. In high school and college, runners take the
A Painting a Day ~ A Dozen Red Roses ~ Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Pace No. 187 A Dozen Red Roses 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day: This painting uniquely addresses bold contrast colors and spaces. The heart responds to the beauty of traditional love with red roses as the central theme. Boldly stated contrasts of red and green, blue and orange, and violet and yellow create an interwoven pattern that satisfies the visual palette. The thick paint is pulled in layers with a palette knife and the final painting supports several coats of pre-varnish.
