The Thought:   We were watching a documentary last night on Pete Seeger.   I had no background info on him before watching this so it was quite enlightening.  He was born 10 years before my own parents arrival here on this earth.  I commented to Terry that

'Blue Baby' Horse Equine Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Blue Baby' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me with an offer to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : Playing off complimentary colors of blue and orange, the strength of this painting is remarkable in person. With my traditionally heavy oils without Impasto, the texture feel of the horse makes him come alive. The Thought :  Coming alive seems to blend right in with a good thought to build on for the day.     A few months ago I never struggled in the early hours at 4:30 am when we crawled out of bed. I have always been an early riser.  Lately after our last three week vacation I became accustomed to sleeping in until eight or  nine in the morning.  When I work up then I was so refreshed and alive.  At 4:30 am there is a struggle to come alive from the depths of sleep.     There are many folks that go through life living each day and not being ALIVE.  Some zombie movies call them the walking dead.   While we

"Beauty" Horse Equine Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

"No. 239 Beauty" 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to Purchase: Laurie SOLD OFF THE BLOG! THANK YOU! ©Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. " 1 Peter 3:8 The Painting : Different strokes for different folks. It was a laid back two day period working on this light impressionistic piece. This is a 24 x 24 inch canvas and I used Holbein Duo Oils in multiple layers. Most of the area is in wide brush, but parts are in a 1/4 inch brush. The Thought : I was reading in 1 Peter when I came across this verse. Peter is sharing what is important for us in our lives, but taking it a step further is to realize what God has for us. This verse is a gentle verse speaking of open love. Our God is this and more. Our God is an awesome God. God is tough and tender. Brings back thoughts of that child rearing book from the seventies "Tough Love

"Wild Morning" Equine Horse Art Painting by Laurie Pace

'Wild Morning' 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly, and revere your God. I am the Lord. " Leviticus 19:32 The Painting : Acrylic Overlays in about seven layers. Dense thick paint and high glass varnish combine to finish off this unique composition. The Thought: We were driving down Forest Lane on our way home from Whole Foods and I saw the sign outside the Unity Church, "HAPPY HOUR" . Of course it was referring to the church service on Sunday. Then I was reading a magazine with little one liners that said, "Do you know what Happy Hour for the elderly is? An afternoon nap. Life not only begins at forty, it begins to show. Some of the other one liners were: You don't stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing. It seems like the older Terry and I get, the more we forget

Equine Art Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

"Call of the Wild Horses" ©LPace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase. Laurie $495 © Laurie Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " Amazement seized all of them, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, 'We have seen strange things today. '" Luke 5:26 About the Painting: This is one of my thicker pulls of paint on canvas. The energy of the horses straining up and forward fighting for position is felt by first glance. Painted with a palette knife and Holbein Duo Oils, this painting has an appraised value of $1295. Thoughts today: It is going to be a long month. Wish it was time to take vacation. The work has started next door and there are men climbing and ripping the roof off. The noise level is moderate but it will be impossible for the baby to sleep once the construction starts. The work men are parked in front of our home making it impossible for our household to have guests. Stacey suggested cones out front. Sunday was t
A Painting a Day ~THREE UP ~ Palette Knife Oil Painting Horse Art by Laurie Pace Three Up 48 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work: Laurie © Laurie Pace 2009 “ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. ” Romans 15: 13 A Painting A Day: Contemporary horses created with layers of palette knife paint, oils and impasto are apart of this painting. This was a commission piece for a very special doctors office opening here in Dallas. Color and energy are all apart of the healing process...waking the body to the "good news" of life through empathetic viewing , as energy passes from the canvas to the viewer. My thoughts for the day: The last time I was really sick was about a year ago in February when I had the flu and we had no heat, no hot water, and partial electricity. Go back and read my blogs from then. It was not a pretty thing. Terry would trot
WILD FOUR HORSES Contemporary Western Horse Art Daily Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48.. HUGE in size.. and all oils! Wide brush and lots of contrast Contact me to purchase and mention title of Painting: Laurie SOLD THANK YOU! "Christ Himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven and earth, the things we can see and the things we can't; the spirit world with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities; all were made by Christ for His own use and glory. " Colossians 1:16 Jonathan was over yesterday to visit. Mom and I went to church and after church met my eldest son Justin and my grandson, Jonathan for lunch. Then it was a quick trip to Barnes and Noble for THE SHACK for mom to start reading hers. I can't say enough about this book, except GO BUY A COPY of it. Home we came. Jonathan wanted to make Chocolate Chip Cookies, so we used Aunt Stacey's favorite recipe and that was my downfall as I ate two cookies and they were good! Terry
HIS BOOTS Contemporary Western ART Boots, Cowboy Boot Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 24 inches of Mixed Mediums, lots of acrylic, varnish and other stuff! Contact me to purchase. This is the FIRST in this series. Mention the title in your email: Laurie “He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.” Proverbs 17:9 There is something comforting about seeing my husbands cowboy boots on the floor by his chair. Usually his socks are stuffed hanging out of the top of each boot. It tells me he is home and when he is home I feel his protection and love surrounding me tightly. I am no longer alone at home.... he is with me. What is your comfort from the Lord? What do you have visually that reminds you He is home with you, both in your heart and your home; what do you see before you that He is filling your every need, loving you and protecting you? Is it your bible? Is it a cross hanging in a room? What visually reminds you of Him
SNOW HERD Contemporary Art Palette Knife Horizon Painted Pony Horse Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Thick Oil on Canvas $750 SOLD off the BLOG. Thank you! Contact me with an offer: Laurie The Sounds of Silence “The Lord was not in the wind . . . the earthquake . . . the fire; and after the fire the sound of sheer silence.” 1 Kings 19:11–12 ( NRSV ) When I posted this painting I immediately thought of the quiet silence of snow falling totally out of focus of the horses, which of course are a contrasting noise; even when standing they snort and stamp their feet, eager to push on in the silence of falling snow. Where is the strength, in the snow or in the horses? Wondering and roaming through my bible, I remembered in my distant brain the power struggle between Elijah and Ahab's wife Jezebel. She was a foreigner and she worshiped Baal and not God. When she moved in with Ahab (King of Israel), she brought 400 of her favorite prophets and priests. Can you imagine

No heat; haven't had heat since yesterday morning when I was minding my own business and the plumber knocked on the door. They were coming to purge the lines for the city inspection. It was after lunch when the inspector came. The gas repair passed (Yeah we can fill the 8 ft by 2 ft hole in the yard) and the new heater passed as well. The plumber returned late last night to try and unstop our plu
INTENSE Revisited Contemporary Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Power Rangers is blaring in the background as I begin this daily blog. I am truly waiting for Six and the news and hope to be gleefully playing in paint by then! I promised today Terry and the Light Sabers and you will see it now! The blue one is the one Jonathan, our grandson picked out to have for Christmas. It took a month to receive it but it is here now! We are hoping to see him this weekend for him to get it! Meanwhile it has batteries and is ready for battle should I need it to protect myself. Well step wise it was not a great day. I think I only did about 3500 steps yesterday. BUT if you read the post notes on yesterday's blog you will see we had a Carbon Monoxide leak in the house that made me sick, the fan gave out on the old heater and American Home Shield condemned the unit. End result is no heat until we can get one installed. My electric hea
EXPLOSIVE FURY Contemporary Modern Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD I am surrounding by a huge pile of TO DO's on my desk. Not sure if painting or cleaning comes first! I decided to do the blog first. THEN jump in and paint. Then I will clean off my desk. I am trying to get organized. This is an explosive painting that evolved this weekend. I finished it up last night. Colors pulling in the down direction created a mighty force on the surface. I was working also on a small commission piece of a little one (Dog) named Sugar. I almost have Sugar finished too. My next commission piece is of a young girl playing in an orchestra at the Meyerson. Her Mom sent me pics from home but the ones from actually being on stage are unbelievable. Terry's cousin Sandra came to visit yesterday. We worked in the plants out in the garden room for most of the day. I prepared pasta and meat sauce with fresh salad and hot bread with cheese, tomatoes and garlic on it! Yummm. Leftov
ESACPE ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches, Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD on Daily Painters. Thanks for Supporting Daily Painters. List is not totally made, but I have been reflecting on it! I know the Lord is putting up caution signs and detours, but I remain in a fog trying to figure out the way. I love it when hubby says, "you are doing it wrong, can't you see that?" But when I ask him to help me understand what it is he sees so clearly he can't answer me. I am not sure he knows, but he is ever so helpful to try and make sure I know I am doing it wrong. If I started my list at the top would probably be self control. When it comes to my eating habits that seems to be lost for sure. To have more self control would be first. Maybe then I can loose part of the twenty pounds I gained over the past four years. Second, hummm, probably flexibility...to have flexibility to situations that I have no control over! Makes sense do
DIRECTIONAL ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 x 2 inches, Oil on Deep Wrap Canvas SOLD THANKS for supporting Daily Painters Contact me for Pricing Laurie Pace Saturday early before the city has awaken....I am here at the computer blogging. I painted until almost nine last night on a few pieces, going from easel to easel. Will paint more this morning and then I have to clean house. AND unpack books. This is on a huge canvas 24 x 48. I squirm when I paint on these because Terry hates shipping them. I do not paint on them often for this reason. Carl from Pane in the Glass came yesterday and replaced my broken Kitchen window and fixed the curio cabinet that was broken in the move. He is such a pleasant man and I was fortunate to find him through the internet when we arrived. NOW, Terry only has to replace the sliding glass door in the kitchen. Then we will have all the cracked glass areas replaced. Do you have cracked areas in your life? Are they in need of repair?

JACKSON THREE ~ Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary ART for the home. SOLD Short on time...have to finish four paintings today...two are underway and thank goodness the other two are small. THE CHRISTMAS CRUNCH is here and tie in moving and I am straying from the word Calm. The poor dogs are wandering around the maze of boxes very leery of what is happening. Terry says they will need a therapist downsizing their yard from an acre to a tiny city sq of land. This week has found them connected in a new way, laying shoved up against each other and when I am in the studio they lay snuggled up in the center of this small room. I literally cannot even move from the desk to get to the easel. Morgan packed the kitchen on Friday, so when I have the stress need to snack, there is nothing there. Actually there is brown rice and a box of Cheerios. I made a small pot of brown rice yesterday and ate it for lunch/dinner at thr

Laurie Pace PACKING UP THE DREAMS GOD'S PLANTED..... Friday is near dawning, I am blogging and then I am packing. I finished the painting above yesterday morning. Yesterday was also my last day here with my students in Justin Texas. I have watched so many of these youngsters grow up. Aly has been with me since Kindergarten and she is in Junior High School now. She is a superior artist that has incredible depth of talent and it has been a gift to me to be a part of her life. Another promising student is Sophia. She is an engaging child that has been with me three years. She is talented not just in her art, but also in her piano playing. In art you sit in wonderment as she paints and what you might shudder about, she immediately rolls the painting into an unbelievable finish of technique and color. There is Krysta that can
Golden Red ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Contact me for prices and commission art work. Laurie Pace A knifed painting with much action for attention and energy in the room! Thick creamy oils applied with the palette knife always brings interesting compositions! Well, we closed on both houses yesterday. BUT we do not move for 10 days. It is the count down. I snapped a few more pictures when we were there on Monday. I hope you enjoy them. THIS is the furniture of the old owner...mine is not there yet....give me the 10 days please! This is the loft in the Master bedroom. Terry told me he wanted to close it in for a cedar closet but I say no because of the light that would be lost coming in the windows in the loft. This is standing in the entry hall looking south into the living room and dining room. The glass doors on the left open up to the enclosed garden room. It is heated and cooled. I w
ESCAPE ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home. Contact me for pricing or commission work. This is another piece in acrylic. I really enjoyed this baby as it emerged from the colors on the canvas. I am working half in acrylic and half in oils with the impending move. Wow what a day yesterday. Nothing like making a trip somewhere just to present yourself to get ripped off. My mom used a store called FIRST FLOOR and Carpets and they did a nice job in their home. I had the same folks come give me a bid on the floors for our new house and was totally dismayed and disappointed in their dishonesty. I will be canceling their work this morning. They over estimated the sq footage WAY beyond the overcut area (this is wood floor) and then when we arrived back at their shop to point this out, he refigured and definitely dropped the amt, but not near enough. With the first order he was charging $8.55 a sq
DAWN RUN ~ Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home. CONTACT ME for pricing or commission work. Do you know what is in the back of the closet at your house? Well, I found this treasure when packing up for the new house. Painted in 2005, I pulled this beauty out and touched up the paint and varnished it to sell. I didn't even know it was in there. Go figure. What is in the back of the closet at your house? Okay, I have to stick in my Tail (Tale) wagger today. Morgan was over painting yesterday and I was finishing up some tar gel on a large 30 x 30 inch painting. The painting was in the corner of the studio drying. Morgan and Hillary left with their baby dog, my female grand-dog. My male dog, Paddy, was intensely jealous. We always have to keep them separated and it was difficult with the wet cold weather, Paddy didn't want to be outside or behind a closed door. SO when he was loose finally he tore through the
