" He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” Daniel 2:21    I am reminded of a favorite verse from Philippians that we should go to the Lord in prayer and supplication while giving thanks to make our needs and desires brought forth before our God.  We all have needs, hurts, pains, and discouragements right now in our lives. In today’s world, we are all affected physically or mentally by life, illness or need. For many of us, our expectations have not been met, and our feelings are raw. God has promised to answer our prayers…but in his time with his answer. It is best if we lay aside the anxiousness that seems to creep in our hearts and lives. He knows what y

Human nature seems to call us to jump into situations that might be avoided. In today’s world, our lifestyles have changed and we are confronted on every side with demand, action, and intensity. Rare is a moment of peace and quiet. Rare is a moment spent in prayer. Action seems to be the verb of the century.   With the constant distractions pulling us away from our thoughts and activities, it is no wonder we find ourselves lost through out the day. Screen time sucks life out of us. Facebook seems to be our social time scrolling and scrolling. Instagram and Tictoc ‘empower us’ to boldness to shock, share, and

I was working on this painting about two years ago. It is the granddaughter of a good friend of mine. Watching her grow up from a tiny newborn to the energetic, vibrant young girl she has become, has been a treasure.  Pulling things from the archive, I hope to be painting again in the next two months. I did paint a small piece yesterday.  5 x 7 in size, but I’m not ready to share yet .  I can just about hear God saying that, ‘ I’m not ready to share yet. ”  With all that has happened in 2023  right to this early morning moment on my blog, I can feel the Lord working on me. It was in December right before Christmas, I surrendered entirely. The studio remained literally upside down….Hubby moved my computer (I cannot use it yet …probably for another 6 weeks.) I cleared out a HUGE box of paints, inks,

From way back in 2004 before I was blogging. That did not start until late 2006 . Back then I was painting up to two paintings a day and selling on Ebay. Back then it was a perfect place for an artist that loved to paint. I was on their platform until spring 2010 when the rules made it easy for foreign artists to rip off the American Artists painting on Ebay and sell their version of our work. I left then.  By that time I had several galleries selling my work. I will always remember my first sold painting in an auction was a basket of apples.  The history of my work has been ever evolving.  "Color is a constant in Laurie's work." The challenge to explore and discover content while painting remains primary. Navigating in this new world of 'pandemic'

I always walk in the mornings 3 miles... inside in cold weather...but outside. I walked Annie Dog 2 miles and she actually behaved!  Kerries are notorious for going  after game... and game is anything on four legs. Especially the fluffy white ones. We just took down the tree a few days early but so much happening in the studio and it is time for me to get back to work. Once again I am offering 199 paintings this year of various sizes for $199 each.  You need to stop by this blog and see what is up each morning at 8 am central time.  For over 20 years my paintings

Family gatherings were the main stay, along with great food, laughter and love.  My mom went the over the limit with thick linen table cloths, fresh flowers, a huge menu of German delights and pies of every flavor. Between my two brothers and Terry and me, our children and later grandchildren, the numbers grew each year!  Do you have great memories of Thanksgiving? What did your family do or how did you celebrate it?  This year will be different... our family is not gathering. We are all staying home. Terry and I stayed pretty well quarantined for the last 10 da
