TIME

Okay Lady L is back and she brought her parents this time. SO I seriously will be doing shortly blogs.

Time is only what we make of it and I intend to make the best of each moment they are here. I blocked out three days from painting in the studio and blogs will be short!

Make the best of your time and your day spending it with someone you love. If you cannot be there in person, then call them. Share the day, share the night and share your time.

Inner Peace

Have you ever been hiking and discovered a waterfall?  The water is literally tumbling down the side of a hill or mountain and splashing wildly in a pool below. There is constant motion with a busy current of energy as the water moves. In the pond or lake where the water falls...really deep beneath the surface, the water is undisturbed by the chaos above.  Also true if you find a path in the side of the hill that leads behind the curtain of the waterfall... there too under the noise of the falling water is a safe place of respite.

Within you is always a calm place you can retreat to, a place filled with peace and quiet strength.  This restful place energizes and send out raw power to you to go and achieve those things important to you. You can draw on the peaceful center whenever you need to.

God offers this peace to you as well.  When you are centered in His love and care, you find the power to move mountains. So know when life gets really twisted and crazy, that your true strength comes from the peace deep within.

Salvation

1.the act of saving or protecting from harm, risk, loss, destruction, etc.
2.the state of being saved or protected from harm, risk, etc.
3.a source, cause, or means of being saved or protected from harm, risk, etc.
4.Theology . deliverance from the power and penalty of sin; redemption.

When I saw the bible verse this morning I was thinking protection and safety with 'rock and refuge'.  Then I googled the true definition of salvation and saw it was the act of saving or protecting ...which to me is to keep safe; not allowing harm to come.

This struck me in two different ways. The first and most natural was the easy to see, that God is our salvation. He will protect us and save us and keep us in His care.  Acceptable.  WONDERFUL!!!!

Then deeper my brain spiraled to another layer of protecting from harm and risk.
There are experiences and happenings in each of our lives that we push back in the recesses of the mind to "protect us" from the harm or destruction of the memory.   By not facing it we believe that we are protecting ourselves. By not dealing with it we skate away from reality and try to bury it.

These experiences begin to resurface at times we do not want to remember them. They begin to affect our lives in a negative way. Could be they bring on unwanted behaviors. They are surfacing because we never dealt with them.  We have not allowed ownership of these wrongful things to anyone, including God.

If He is to be your salvation and protector, He has to know the score.  Well, that was silly. Of course He knows, He knows everything. Now it is time for you to know and realize you cannot hide these things from the Father.  You are running from facing them yourself. He will give you the strength to face the things you have been running from. He is your Salvation. He is your Hope. He is Love. He is Joy.

Celebrate Life.

Texas Spring Time in Progress Abstract Horse Painting, The Painted Ponies 2011 by Texas Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on Texas Spring Time
 Commission Painting SOLD
3 ft by 4 ft  Oil on Canvas

This painting is one of my highly collected Painted Pony Pulls.
These gorgeous abstract horse paintings are thick with buttery Holbein Duo Oil Paints on Canvas.
The collector that requested it liked a prior painting entitled Spring Showers and
wanted this to have the same flavor.  They also requested brilliant colors as well.
Painted so far to Guns and Roses, Shania Twain and the Dave Matthews Band...
today I shall do more and continue to layer. Right now there are about 20 layers of paint and about 10 more to go.

Sacrifice

What does this word mean?

Wikipedia:" In Christian teaching, God became incarnate in Jesus Christ (trinitarian view) or sacrificed his first-born son (divine yet distinct from God for non-trinitarians) to accomplish the reconciliation of God and humanity, which had separated itself from God through sin (see the concept of original sin)."

In conversations and thoughts daily we think we make 'sacrifices'. Our teens often sacrifice their safety when trying to keep up with their peers.  Old conversations of the past were of fathers that sacrificed for their families, but in this generation as many moms sacrifice as dads...and as grandparents to make things better for their children and their family.

In Japan there are many workers sacrificing their own lives being exposed to radiation working at the nuclear sites knowing they will suffer greatly from cancer and early death; they continue to work desperately trying to control the situation to insure the safety of the Japanese population. This is sacrifice.

Sacrifice is to give up something that is very dear to you in order to provide or make way for something much greater, or for a greater good. With this being lent my prayers have been focusing on the anguish of Christ as he sacrificed his own life for all of us to have life. My prayers are focused on those in Japan now sacrificing their lives.  My prayers are constantly with our soldiers sacrificing to serve for others around the world, missing families and friends.

I take pause reassessing the need to realign my direction to continue to serve others.

PRAYER
This is another one of my miniatures that I am preparing for larger paintings for my upcoming Denver Show in July at Mirada Fine art.   I am hoping to do a painting on site at the gallery if we are able to arrange it.

The base was a rusty orange coating of acrylic with heavy overlays of oil paint.

Yesterday we began working on clearing the banks of the pond some more. We are under a burn ban so we will continue to clear and then have to pay to have someone come clear the trash of trees and limbs from our lot.  We desperately need rain. My prayers this next week are focused on just that.

Make a list of things to pray about this week and keep up with it... even if you do not make another ...keep up with this first one. Pray daily about the things on your list...and when you find answers for those prayers, date the list next to that item. It is a wonderful way to see God at work as He does answer prayers. Not always the way we want him to, but things evolve and resolve.

IF There is Doubt, Don't do it.

Terry and I were collapsed on the couch yesterday around four and Oprah was on when we switched on the tv to veg out to fresh baked Tilapia, summer squash, sweet potato fries, and a big salad. (Oh also a bowl of fresh cut up strawberries, apples and grapes)  We both worked hard all day... up till eight last night. I was washing sheets and preparing the guest room for the RETURN OF LADY L and her parents.  How cool is that?

She is a right handed painter and loves painting with me in the studio.

It was a rerun on Oprah from her trip down under to Australia and we enjoyed everything we saw on the journey.  Russell Crow had Oprah out on a sailboat and she asked him if the Oscar had changed his life.  He said it really did not as he did his job every day... just like anyone does and the Academy Awards truly had nothing to do with his job.  He told Oprah that she had affected his life dramatically and he always remembered her words, "If there is doubt, don't do it." Russell Crow applies this in his life even today.  Using that inner voice that you ALWAYS hear when it tells you to do or not to do.

So I am sharing that with you today...if you are like me sometimes you get carried away with following others or following a dream you have that you need to do something.  Deep inside there is something nagging you but you ignore it. You want to control your life and you go in the direction you think is best despite that inner voice.

Listen... God is talking.. He is that inner voice.

 Going My Way?

I am  not even sure there are many hitchhikers left on the roads today. The few I have seen truly look like they are traveling cross country. As a child when we traveled from Dallas to St Louis, I remember often seeing hitch hikers with their thumb in the air and that "Going my way?" expression.  Of course my dad never stopped. We didn't have room in the car with three kids even if it had been in his heart.

Pondering thoughts bring visions of God waving His hands in front of me trying to get me to STOP... and then asking 'Going my way?'.   I am always too distracted to pay attention and that is where things begin to break down. I am probably NOT going His way.

When we NEED Him we are crying and pleading and begging for help... and in truth, He has never left our side. He is always there with you, and if you do not recognize Him it is because you have no relationship with Him. Even at those times when believers fear He has left them, He has not.  He is constant and steady.

In a whisper this day, or a casual voice, ask Him, "Going my way?" Then stop and share why that is so important.  You are not speaking to nothingness, you are speaking to Him and He is listening with full heart and ready to walk with you.

What Dreams Are Made Of

What are in your dreams? What do you think in your heart is missing from your life?   Often it is for things we think we need and God has better things in mind for us. We limit so many things by our own thought process and often do not truly believe that there are no limitations to what joys He has for us.

I get to see my Dad today and I am bursting with excitement.  With Alzheimers he does not know who I am, but those same brown eyes embrace me with his warm smile and for that split second I can believe 100 percent this is my DAD. Whenever some one asks me who I would love to have dinner with in an interview... it is with my dad before the disease hit him.  I am so grateful my Mom is healthy and still the wonderful person she has been my whole life. She brings joy to every day.

Dreams are made of ...what?  Sounds like a painting in the making... are you ready for the challenge?  That may have to be part of the workshop in May.

I have been to Asel art and Jim is helping me compile a list of some new things to bring into the already busy schedule...but they are a must for our weekend. SOO MUCH but not too much... I want to get you into what dreams are truly made of... our unlimited imagination, our unlimited spirit and our purest heart as we create.

A MOMENT OF JOY

As an adult I find life gets pretty darn intense.  Of course most of that intensity is self-induced.  What does it take for an adult to live like a child? To live knowing the Father will take care of everything? Trusting in the plans of the Father?

After 5 days with Lady L at the house,  Terry and I both have new sight on learning AGAIN to let go of so much and try to learn to "play" again. We need to find JOY in every moment.  Lady L sure did. She set a great example...well most of the time, except when she did not get her way and she ducked her chin and pushed out her bottom lip.  I don't believe we are as cute as adults when we pout.  God probably is not laughing like Terry and I did trying hard not to cry and let her see us laughing.

Take a look at your life today.  Are you having fun? Is there joy?  Time to climb out of the box and let it into your life.

A SENSE OF HUMOR

I know I have talked about God's sense of humor in the past.  Make a plan and He is chuckling in heaven.

With Lady L here we have to maintain a sense of humor.  I laughed till I cried when I walked out to find her doing her Oreo Cookie dippings and decorating her Miss Piggy book with her new Cinnamon Cheerios.  Catch the cheerio on the eye!

This precious two year old keeps us hopping.  Terry ask me last night, "How many grandparents does it take to change the diaper on a two year old?"  We both sat and figured out probably three to four.  That little miss has strong legs and if you just pull her out of warm bath that she does NOT want to be out of, she throws a royal fit. Other than that she is pretty good about eating and sleeping.

I remarked to my music student's mother today that it seems like our schedule was get up, eat, tornado through the house for three hours, eat again...sleep again, repeat the tornado action and then eat dinner get a bath and go back to bed.  Yesterday afternoon she had my hand and she was walking me in circles around the living room. After fifteen minutes I ask her where we were going... she looked up and giggled at me... "to Oma's house." DUH, why didn't I think about that?

Sense of humor... something we all need to keep our heads straight and our hearts in the right place.

 MOVEMENT OF THE SPIRIT

In church yesterday Pete spoke about many things in his message; one particular statement caught my attention.  Where does the wind end?  He told us in the bible translations the word for spirit and wind are often interchanged.  Reflecting on this when I chose a painting for my quick mini'blog... I chose Movement of the Spirit.  The constant motion of the Holy Spirit in our lives is never ending.  That is something you can COUNT on all the time, the consistency of the Spirit in your life if your heart and mind are open to receive from God.

(note about this painting from Spring 2006: It began as a painting of my Taylor 914E... and it became horses....look closely and you can find my guitar.)

On the side of counting...endlessly with an abacus built by Lady L's (aka Tinkerbell) great great grand-daddy Haskell.  All of my three children played with this abacus, learning to count, to add and to subtract.  Lady L spotted it in the glass china cabinet and wanted it immediately.  She learned quickly about the red, green and yellow beads.  The spirit of William Haskell's love is carried on in this simple abacus. I am guessing it was built for his grandson Mark, and then passed on to our three and now to Lady L.

May the Spirit fill you with every need this day.

FINGER PAINTING
We are still alive and well into our Day Three with Lady L. The first night her little classical music CD did not stop playing for four or five hours. I went to sleep around one a.m.   Still trying to figure out what Terry pushed.
Of course we have discovered that EVERYTHING her mom said she ate, she truly does not, and everything her mom said she does not eat, she eats.  I think that should not be named Murphy's law, but maybe Shortcake law.
I had bought those new dipping things...Oreo type chocolate sticks and white creamy icing.  She loves them.  The hard part was cleaning all the hardened creamy white icing off the windows she painted them with. I guess it was a type of mixed media with chocolate Oreo and white sticky icing. She used her fingers for the icing and then drug the chocolate cookie through it. This occurred on the windows flanking the fireplace.  The ones I just cleaned last week.
We are off to Church this morning. This ought to be a hoot.  At least I had more sleep last night.

THE TEXAS TWISTER

By most standards the Texas Twister would be one of those huge tornadoes bearing down from west Texas into Central Texas....OR it could be Lady L in her "twister" mode.  That can be defined two ways... one by the disaster left as she plays from room to room... to that tiny twist of hair on her fingers when she is so tired she cannot see straight.

We have put a few miles on the little red wagon already and her favorite thing in the house is the baby grand piano.  She stays "STUCK" to that most of the day.  "STUCK" is her favorite word, no wait, second favorite. Her favorite is NO NO NO.

When she is in her car seat or you are holding her and do not want to put her down she is decisively STUCK and lets you know it.   She had forgotten we had birds.. Max and Gracie... and she calls them BORRR YDS... with a northern accent.  Makes Terry and I chuckle to hear her stringing the words together.

(I am inserting a later comment right here as I just received a very pointed email that I had insulted the north with the term Yankee and my referral to the language difference, so I removed it. I am from the north. I always considered myself a Yankee. That is where Lady L picks up some of her accented words. (Her mom is from Nacogdoches Texas and her Dad from Oklahoma.)   If you are from the south you are constantly teased for the long drawl and lazy words that miss syllables and often half their letters.  So apologizes to Wm Fack as there was no malicious intent when I wrote my blog AND to my NY Family, Billie I do NOT want to hear from you!  I miss hearing my grandmother's sweet German accent... and I miss hearing "pop" instead of soda. I miss much of the language I grew up with...but I was moved to Texas at a young age attached to my parents. I married a Dallas boy, born fourth or fifth generation Dallas... and we are always teasing each other back and forth about things like this. It is rather nice to hear my granddaughter mimic some of it back to us.)

Short blogs and long days from the Golden Pond. Before I forget. We have huge bees buzzing the house. BIG black bees with yellow on their backs.  Any ideas how to lure them away from the house?  Makes it hard to go outside with Lady L.

LADY L IS TO ARRIVE

After today I am not sure if I will be blogging much. I promise to TRY to get posts up and a few lines, but Lady L is coming to visit.  Jonathan is almost 14 so it has been 12 years since I dealt with a two year old.

Terry and I were discussing rules at the breakfast table. After visiting with Sheriff Paul and hearing about his 11 year old grand-daughter that watches TV and dances in the early 1 am hours we are making plans.  So Lady L will have limited TV here as we do not want her to start bad habits early at age two.

Paul was giving us his agenda with his grand-daughter for the day.  They are digging a post hole for his new flag; burning trash logs and roasting marshmallows; feeding the cows and horses and riding the four wheeler over two hundred acres.   TP and I looked at each other and decided NONE of the above were things to do with a two year old.

We will go visit the zebras and camels; they will probably terrorize her as dogs are not her favorite right now. We will walk a lot; note to her mom, bring the red wagon. We will go to Lowes just to go and pick out flowers and allow her to run around the store; note to self, do that BEFORE nap time. We will call someone with kids and find out  where there are playgrounds for little ones; not sure they exist here. ( OH YEAH, there is a Mickey D's in Mt Pleasant).  We will have to go to the ALCO in town with her and buy her a fishing pole...and then go pretend to fish.  I guess if it gets warm we can get a small pool for her to splash in; note to her mom, bring a bathing suit.  I need to visit KinderARt.com for some color sheets.

If you have ideas, email me.

Meanwhile Terry and I are baby proofing the house. I will have to lock up my paints in the tool chest.  PRAY please...
