Wishing it might stop snowing and being quite so cold outside. Obviously we are not equipped to live like this in Texas with it so cold.  A few days ago we began to hear water running and nothing was turned on.  In this cold weather that is not a sound you want to hear.

The insurance adjuster was here yesterday and Terry began the tear down in the bathroom this morning to get to the problem pipe. This is not an easy thing to do and it was not on our agenda. Seems like God always has these small detours in our lives. There are several books out about that.  When Bad things happen to Good People and then my favorite, THE BIBLE. Experiences in life are there for us to test our faith and our abilities to survive and be stronger. We grow stronger in faith when we endure and have to rely on Him to get us through the bad times.

I pause this morning to reflect back on the many years we have been married and then even back to our courtship in junior high and high school. The journey was not simple.  We both went our own ways for 20 years before we found each other again. Each of us had life experiences to tuck beneath our skin and lessons to learn in our hearts before we would come back together to meet again and fall in love as adults. What are the odds?

The saw is loud in the background as I type this.  I am sure there is dust and chips flying through the air. Earlier this morning, Mr Hubby carefully covered the bathroom area with tarps and then stopped to kiss me before sliding on his eye gogglesSawzall in hand, I watched him disappear into the quiet hall bathroom to begin The New Project.

Smiling, thoughts warm my heart as I imagine how God must feel at times dealing with all of our independent notions and ways.  The armor of God is impenetrable. He offers it to us to use all the time.  Spend a moment and reflect on everything else He provides for us to make our day... the sweet sound of the birds, the soft white clouds in the sky (even if they are full of snow), the precious smile of a young child, or even the warm blankets on the bed. His love gifts surround us and they are ours.

Too often we fall short in worry about what we do not have, or the problems that seem to loom before us. That is when we should breathe deeply and take in these love gifts.  They are the essence of the armor of God, surrounding us, encouraging us, and helping us stay focused on what truly matters in life.

Laurie

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.” - 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

So encouraging Laurie. I got a print sent to me yesterday with some scratches on it and proceeded to have a "bad day" attitude when later I got my World Vision magazine in the mail and read about a sweet woman in Africa who carries 70 pds of water everyday (even the day she gave birth). I have so much to be grateful for and there are so many to pray for who are truly needing God's armor. We have been given the right to be called children of God. Now that's something to smile about.

BTW, your hubbie sounds like a keeper. ;)

Love your blog entry. As someone facing health challenges every day, when I get out of bed, the challenge of the day awaits me and I am learning to turn my thoughts to the wonderful things God has brung to my life. And yes, my canary will remind me of good things when he breaks out in full song. Literally singing his little heart out...gives you time to reflect on His blessings. His blessings far outweigh the trials of life.
