What is that noise? Yesterday Terry called to me to hurry up as we needed to walk down the street to see what all the noise was.  I hurried to the coat closet for my mid weight jacket and my long knit scarf Kimberly Conrad made me two years ago... Kimberly I still love it... and headed out the door to catch up with him.  We walked south up our street which is a hill and saw quite a few trucks gathered at the top on our little one car only road.  There were chain saws buzzing and men having a heated discussion as our neighbor, who is on the architectural committee asked them to cease. They did not have a building permit.

We literally had the fear put into us NOT to do anything with out approval and a building permit from our home owners association.  We always obey the rules.  After visiting with them we found out they were dozing most of the trees on the lot to build some huge 5000 sq foot home on the lake there.  I am glad it does not obstruct our view but it will be way out of character for the houses around here.  It also means the next four months of building trucks up and down the roads tearing them up.

It took me a long time to realize that we should be living with much less.  Why do we still tend to cling to over sized homes filled with STUFF?   Could you give it all up if you were asked to go and serve the Lord?  You will one day.  With every box we go through and pitch stuff I feel less pressure.

Yesterday I put the final coat of varnish on the image above and then had to sand and strip a canvas. It was the large sunflower painting I had been working on in December. I was not happy then with some of the movement or color and the collector agreed.  I took out my sand paper and sanded it and gessoed it.  Then I re drew the composition and began working on the background. I stopped about 8 last night as I was pretty tuckered. It was a long long day.

I pray this finds you well and avoiding the flu and pneumonia.  On of our sons has pneumonia right now, the baby's father.  OH the baby... here is a new photo for her. She is ready to role in her Tinkerbell hotwheel. She has her windblown hair and her snazzy blue sunglasses.  God is good, all the time, God is good.

Hello Laurie, I came across your painting Spirit of Fire Horse on dailypainters.com and was wondering if there is anywhere you have prints of that one available?

Thanks,
Karen
