Yesterday turned out to be pretty relaxing even though I did work part of the day.  You know we started out with a two mile walk, a soak in the hot tub, brunch at 10, and then I finished transferring photos from my camera to the computer. At two I took a nap.  I cannot tell you the last time I took a nap. I was up two hours later doing our household books and my reports for my CPA and then I began a painting for the www.artistsoftexas.org Show in Dallas Nov 2nd thru Dec 31st 2010.

Terry had dinner ready at 6:30 (fresh tossed salad with left over chicken, mushrooms, avocados, tomatoes, carrots, onions and raisins: after that it was a good book and back to sleep.  Not sure where the day went, but it was glorious and pretty un-stressful for the first time in months. I will spend most of today working on the 30 x 30 I have started for the show. It is one of the light ponies that I did a commission of recently. The gallery had framed it for my buyer and she asked if I would do one similar for the show.

I would love to encourage you this day to purposely tell three different people how much they mean to you and the positive things they have brought into your life.  This affirmation will allow you to give to them a fullness and joy they are not expecting today.  You will be surprised at the inside glow you will have with each person you greet and share your appreciation with.

You might even think today of those folks you do not have contact with, but perhaps the time you had them in your lives before the break down of your relationship, actually pushed you to new things and new heights in your own life.

With this joy you share will come abundance back to you.  I am off for my two mile walk this morning...such a joy walking the stretches by the lake watching the sun reflect in its newly risen glory.

The hot tub...that is my thought this morning. It was 54 degrees outside and Terry cleaned up the hot tub yesterday and we hit it this morning.  I feel like  a wet noodle slightly overcooked, but pretty good. A shower, clean hair drip drying and a good breakfast coming up next.

I wanted to blog early this morning as yesterday's blog was posted so late. That book was about to drive me insane...but it is done. Thank goodness.  Debbie Lincoln proof read it on Monday and we went to print late yesterday. Now I have to paint for the show and I will be doing that today.

Yesterday while the computer was tied up with the upload to LULU, I spent part of the morning cleaning up the kitchen. God knows HOW MUCH I LOVE MY HUSBAND ....but.... the man has no sense in housework and keeping things simple.  Like for instance:  he needs some tomato puree for spaghetti sauce. He opens the cabinet up where all these things reside, soups, tomato paste, puree, beans, veggies etc., and despite the fact that the puree is in front, he empties 75% of the cabinet on the counter to make sure he likes what he has in hand.  He finished up the cooking and even cleans up the dishes....but everything he removed from the cabinet is still on the counter.  Now after you do that a few days in a row, you have nothing left in the cabinet, it is all over the counters.  Next issue was the dead space above the cabinets.  He had that filled with hummingbird feeders, wire vegetable racks for his grill, the fish wire cooker, cereal boxes, empty egg cartons... I would literally tense up every time I walked into the kitchen. There was NO open counter space.

The  agreement was when he retired, and I had to still work with my art, that he would be in charge of the kitchen.  I have to renege on this deal or I will go crazy.  Within three hours I cleaned out every cabinet, throwing away expired cans, boxes etc, restacked everything...cleaned out the hall linen closet which is partial pantry and loaded it with cans of fruit, extra sugar, brownie mixes etc., and took the quilts and photos from that same closet and he carefully packed those in his mother's cedar chest in the guest room.

So I feel slightly more civil with a calm kitchen that does not look like it is on the attack every time I walk into it....

Keep your life simple. Begin cleaning out and eliminating clutter in your life.  That is how you will find simple ABUNDANCE.

We are home... I am ever so thankful to God for protecting us in all our travels this past month. I thought I had forgotten my own street address when yesterday I started writing down our old Dallas address.  Pretty goofy.

The reunion was wonderful and the pictures ...altho not plentiful, are good.  We decided it may be our last one to attend and we will just have a gathering of our dearest friends.   We paid $$$ for tickets and neither Terry or I ate anything or drank anything but water.  AND we found out at the last moment that it was cocktail attire which I did not have with me... and we spent money on a dress... live and learn what you can do with out.

This is Vicki Fletcher, me and Debbie Grayson Lincoln.  You might recognize Debbie from the Artists of Texas.... we went to high school together.  Below is Terry and I with our oldest friend from Elementary school, Dr. Paul Stephen Worrell... also aka Dr Steve our physician.

This was  a quick group shot of Terry and I, Paul and Vicki and Terry's best friend, Mike Davis and his cousin, Debbie Pace Marsden.

This morning I have been reciting the Serenity Prayer over and over as I began to put back together our shattered household.

God Grant me the
SERENITY
to accept the
things I cannot change,
COURAGE
to change the things I can
and the
WIDSOM
to know the difference.

If we could all keep those words close at heart, we would heal quickly and function at a higher capacity.  Can you do that today? Pray the prayer with me.

We are in Dallas at the Doubletree near Northpark. The hotel is lovely.  It was originally built during the DALLAS tv series and we heard from our bell boy that JR's original round table conference room and office were on the top floor here.
We attended the class reunion last night. I didn't get too many pictures but will put a few up after we return home. I forgot to bring my "thing" that I use to transfer images from the chip to the computer. Everyone has aged gracefully and it was such a joy to see faces you only see every five years!   They mentioned maybe doing it again in two or three years.  We are up for that.

We are off to have breakfast with friends, visit Half Price Books and then grab our stuff, check out and head over to my father-in-law's appt to finish up listing things for the Salvation Army.

It has been a busy trip in such a few hours.   I pray you had a relaxing weekend. For those of you under the weather we need to pray for healing and better days.  For those of you too busy, egads, slow down!
Enjoy your Sunday today!

I am anxious to return home and begin  painting for the November show.  Ken Vaughan is returning to our home in a few weeks to finish up his movie project of my work.... so new things on the horizon. God is good, all the time God is good.

I DO NOT LIKE BLOG STILL. I had to switch to the OLD editor to load the picture this morning.  Short blog... guess why?  We are heading into Dallas for our High School Reunion.  The house sitter is due shortly and we will try to endure another road trip. I am pretty out on riding in the car after the last three weeks.  The bills are still rolling in.

Yesterday I finished the inside of the book for ArtistsofTexas.org for November.  It took 10 hours for my internet connection to upload it to LULU.  I have to finish the cover and order one book before I order a bunch of them.

I may not blog until late tomorrow. I am not going to take my computer with me...  enjoy your weekend. Find something small and simple and give God praise for the beauty in your life.

May abundance be yours always.

I thought I was getting up early this morning and would start proofing the 90 page book for the ArtistsofTexas.org Second Annual Art Show.  BUT, as I pulled open this blog to blog I faced a new picture load that didn't make me smile and took forever to get to work correctly.  If things are not broke do not fix them. Not sure why BLOG had to do this.

I imagine that might be one of God's favorite mantras.   Here on earth we are all little 'tinkers'.  We 'tinker' with this and we 'tinker' with that and we end up deeper in the 'tink' pile with very complicated lives.

With the passing of Terry's Dad, so much has surfaced in our lives with memories and photos and books....I am hoping Terry is inspired to let go of so much of his stuff he does not use after seeing what we had to sort through of his father's earthly belongings.

We are created to go through different journeys in life and different stages in life.  We begin as tiny babies and in a very short time of 15 years we grow into full size humans.  Start where you are now and look back 15 years ago... did you grow over this period?  Our growth after those first 15 years is more than physical. We must be accepting of new chapters in our life and spend time learning to appreciate where we are in life and not trying to go backwards to be younger or thinner or to capture the youth of yesterday.

To every season there is a purpose.  Take stock today of your 'season' in your life. At age 15 you did not want to go back and be age 8... so why now at your age are you trying to turn the clock back? You are missing the beauty of the age you are today.

a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

It was a 16 hour day at the computer yesterday, but the CFAIntl.com site is updated as is ArtistsofTexas.org.  My next huge project that is suppose to be done already but was delayed with our sudden change in our lives... was the book for the AOT show. I have 1/3 of the pages done... but much more to go and then submit it to LULU for printing.

THEN I HAVE TO PAINT for the show.  I keep singing my mantra, My God is so good, so strong and so mighty there's nothing my God cannot do.

These little watercolors were done earlier this summer. I am going to start giving a painting away every week to clean out some back work.

Terry and I have talked about traveling a bit more. He unearthed a bunch of pictures from 1926 and he wants to get everyone identified.   I guess this is good... but not sure I want to dedicate long hours to the searches. He figured out most of those were from the Daniel side of his family.  I only know the Pace and Portwood sides.

I am off to grab some eggs and then back to work on the AOT book.  I may have to take a four hour break and paint though. The brushes are calling me... God is calling me to the studio and I cannot say no.

Believe in Abundance and it will be yours.

We are home. We slept on our own bed last night.  There are mountains of wash and lots and lots of boxes to unpack.  We worked over at Ben's until late afternoon and then drove home through Dallas nightmare 5 pm traffic.   God brought us home safely and Paddy was SOOO excited to see us.
Today is time to get back into some semblance of work order. I have not painted or drawn really in about three weeks and I am ready to roll into work for the gallery show coming up in November at the Dutch Art Gallery. I also will be doing some new pieces for Fine Art America.
I again appreciate all the wonderful emails that have kept Terry and I going over the last week.  It was a week ago that we were in Roanoke VA waiting for our car repair to be complete.  This past week has been a blur with Ben's passing.

The service at the Dallas Veterans Cemetery was so touching.  The young men that did the flag were so majestic with each movement of the folds in the flag.  Taps were played and we all began to cry.   Ben's flag was present to Terry. A cousin took pictures for us and I cannot wait to see them.

At the end of the service we sang Amazing Grace and it was lovely with so many family members singing together to celebrate the passing of our dear Ben, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, best friend....  I just received one of the pictures. This flag means everything to my husband. He has studied the different wars and history is his passion. I think I mentioned that Ben served in the Navy in WWII and in the Air Force in the Korean Conflict.  We received very little from his personal belongings. We have a bible, but not the family bible...Howard, Terry's brother has not located it. That would be the bible Terry and his Dad would read together whenever we visited. Not sure how it slipped out the door so quickly that we did not find it.

We brought back one of his mother's lamp bases and a sugar and creamer from their everyday pottery.  There are a few family pictures and two butterfly books.  Terry had some tools separated out, but they were no longer there when we returned today.  We brought home an ivy he was rooting and a bamboo plant.

Terry's memories of his dad will keep us going for our lifetime until we meet him again in heaven. Every whistle I hear in life, will make me smile and think of Ben.  When I see wood that has been whittled, I will smile and think of Ben.  When someone tells a story/joke, I will tear up that Ben is not there telling that story.  Ben and Terry shared their belief in God, their study in the bible, the love of history and both men possess integrity and honesty.  Both father and son will do and give for all those they love around them before even thinking about themselves.  Family is one of the most important parts of our life.  We have attended almost all of the Pace family reunions and try to stay in touch with the Portwood side of the family as well.  Terry is on the phone right now visiting with his Aunt Barbara and Uncle Charles... Charles was Ben's younger brother.

Terry Pace receiving the flag at his Dad's burial service at the Dallas Veterans Cemetery.

"This flag is presented to you from the President of the United States on behalf of a grateful nation, as a token of our appreciation for the honorable and faithful service rendered by your father, Benjamin Pace."

Did you know each of the folds in the flag are distinct with meaning. You can read about it here.   If I remember I will write more about that tomorrow morning.

May the Lord Bless and Keep you this day.

IT has been a day and feels almost like two days.  We had the memorial service for my fatherinlaw Ben yesterday afternoon.  It was a celebration of a life made special by the blessing God gave this man. He touched the lives of EVERYONE he met every single day of his life.

This morning we are heading to the VA cemetery for an honorary military funeral.  Terry will be presented with the flag from his father's service. This means so very much to him.  I told him last night that God has graced and blessed him with some of the same fine gifts of his father.  I am blessed to have him as my husband ( and sometimes there are times I bless him more than others!)  Stacey recited a beautiful poem for her grandfather and Terry stood and gave a wonderful tribute to his dad.

I forgot to mention that Sunday we visited at Uncle George's home and saw  John Ford Coley. He is Terry's first cousin.  We have not seen John in quite a few years.  I know you will know him if you hear his music. He sang with England Dan.  Here is John's website...CLICK HERE.  He is traveling right now with his music in the Philippines. He walks this faith every single day and believes in the touch of the Lord in everyone's life.   I believe Terry and I will plan to attend one of his concerts now that we are retired..just pick and choose where to travel to and enjoy the journey.

I am excited about going home today. It has been sooo long since we were there.  Paddy is waiting for us to be there with him.  I have so many pictures to unload and paint from and so many pictures to share.

I am praying for you this day that the Lord brings light into your life and you will see the beauty of his love.

Today we lay to rest a dear loved one from my husband's family. His father Ben was 84 years young and his death was sudden. We were on the way back from New York as it all began to unfold.  God has a plan and ours is not to question. We celebrate the life of Ben today with family and friends at a memorial service and tomorrow we continue to honor him at a graveside service at the Veterans Cemetery in Dallas, with military honors. Ben served our country in WWII in the Navy and during the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Airforce.  Not many veterans serve in more than one service.

Thank you again for your kind emails and words of encouragement for both Terry and the family.

Another long day yesterday. Five hours at the funeral home.  Then lunch and more packing and clearing out.  It was seven last night before we arrived home and we were bushed.

Found out yesterday that the grandbaby has the chicken pox.  I am waiting for pictures.  Stace thinks it is a light case as she just had the shot for chicken pox a week ago.  Most of her pox are on her body, not her face or arms.  We are hoping she doesn't understand about scratching yet.

There are many irritants in life... all of our lives.  How we react to those irritants matters.  Things can really itch and we can scratch away at the bothersome itch.  What happens next? Infection.  Our nails are always carrying dirt on them so when we scratch the dirt and bad stuff enters the blood stream.  Then the infection starts and spreads.

What can we do in life to avoid this? God wants us to be responsible for our actions. Each of our actions  creates chain reactions...and we need to think ahead before we do things, or in some cases we chose NOT to do things.  Sometimes when we chose not to take actions can cause negative things to happen as well.

Life is a challenge every day.  With out God leading the way Terry and I would not know what to do.  As we face many new changes and challenges in our life this weekend, we know we can trust that God has us wrapped in His care.  He will help us heal our wounds and supply us with what we need.

Thank you for your calls and emails.  We feel your love uplifting us.

We are in Dallas with Family.  We lost a loved one yesterday morning from our immediately family.  There is so much going on right now, tears, laughter and lots of memories.

Hospice was involved. Faith Hospice here in Dallas. They were wonderful to work with.  You could not find more tender care than we experienced with the wonderful nurses that were there for our family.

I may be absent from blogging for a few days, but I will try and post here and there as I can.

There is a new angel whistling in heaven right now and holding us close as we walk this path.

Not sure I have many "rested" thoughts in my head.  I spent time reading in James last night before falling asleep in my own bed. Today I will be in Isaiah.   This morning will find us back on the road again into Dallas to check on family that has fallen ill.
So please keep us all in prayer right now.  It may be a few days before I will be painting and posting new paintings from all of the images I took in New York. I believe this one was the winner of the event this past weekend, but truly did not have time to sort through my shots.

May His light shine upon you this day... May you find peace in the beauty that surrounds you and rest in His arms,

Laurie

We spent the night in Memphis last night. We had decided to stop in Jackson TN but every single hotel was booked.  So it meant continuing on at 9 pm for Memphis about 80 miles away. We arrived about 10:20 and fell into bed by eleven.  I felt so bad for Terry  as the truckers are thicker than bees on honey on interstate 40 and they are doing an avg of 80-85 mph with NO state highway patrol around.  It was extremely stressful.

I was able to have Justin locate a Marriott for us to stay in near the Memphis airport... and from this very comfortable bed, I am blogging this morning.  We have about six and a half hours to go and we have to stop in Mt Pleasant to pick Paddy up. ... and maybe some groceries somewhere to take home.

We are both excited to pick up our dog. We have not seen him in 9 days.  LONG time.   There is much to do computer wise at home to finish up the books and postcards for Artists of Texas and our upcoming show as well as updating the www.contemporaryfineartinternational.com site.

Then I will be painting and new pieces will be posted.  I had email from a woman at the law firm in Boston that used my artwork last year on their Holiday Card. She brought it all into perspective for us and we will cherish this trip and remember the goods and bads of it all in the years to come. It is most definitely one of THOSE trips. God has provided everything we need in His time every day.  We have not been with out even last night when there were no rooms in Jackson TN.  We pushed on and the trip today will be pretty easy in comparison to the last two days.    I thank her for her kinds words and her emails which brought us back to focus and breathing again.

ALSO found out yesterday why three of my collectors had NOT received their paintings.   Sheriff Paul picked up boxes on the front porch and took them inside the house.   Made it difficult for Fedex and USPS to do their pickup last week.  BUT I found the missing work.

May your day be blessed to be a blessing to others.

Wish I had good news this morning and could tell you we were almost to Texas, but we are not.  When we arrived at the VW bug shop in Blacksburg yesterday morning, the wrong part had arrived for the Passat.  More damage was discovered from a tree we had hit several weeks ago... and more parts are being flown in from New Jersey. We could not even stay at the Marriott in Blacksburg because there was a game last night and all hotels were booked with reserve lists.  We ended up at the Marriott at the airport in Roanoke, but had to pay full price for the LAST ROOM available.

We did explore some gorgeous back country roads that Jamie would have loved to have painted. I took some images along the way.  The views were incredible.

This morning we will go wait for the part to arrive at the dealership here in Roanoke, and we will drive it back to Blacksburg and pray even harder that God is willing to let this be the last piece to the equation of getting that baby Passat back on the road again and us safely back to Texas. Terry's declaration was a Challenger in the air....

We are off for a fast breakfast and then will pack up and check out on another wing and a prayer. We were suppose to be home today, but it will be Thursday most likely. There are still 1000 miles between us and home.  Out of underwear, but there are washers and dryers here at the hotel.  Things looked pretty desperate until that discovery.  Terry made the mistake of taking me to a Barnes and Noble and I bought six books. I figured I would need them. If the car is not repaired tomorrow... we will fly back to Dallas and see if our son or daughter can drive us half way home to meet Paul or Vicky.  Terry can fly back here once the car is fixed and drive it home.

Patience is a virture and ours is calm despite our desire to be home.  God is our refuge along with Marriot and their hot tub.

We are back in Blacksburg VA.  I did not blog yesterday as we left New York before seven and literally drove most of the day to get back here.  The car was not ready when we arrived....but should hopefully be done by noon today.  It is still 14 hours home from here... and most likely a two day drive.

We are heading down to the pool for an early morning swim and then will eat breakfast and maybe explore downtown.

I did post some new pictures on Facebook for the Don Fogerty concert.  I have not unloaded the pictures form my camera from Sunday's show, but by the weekend I will share some with you.

God is good as He continues to watch over us.

I have been up for a few hours...but we did sleep in till about 9 this morning.  We actually hiked a little last night.  Jamie called Gretchen Kelly to come join us.   We had lunch outside on Jamie huge second story veranda and then we took two cars and headed up the mountain behind her house.

On the winding road up we passed a huge rescue going on.  There are falls on this road and folks do not follow the suggestion of NOT climbing them. Then they climb them and fall. Only one person has survived the fall...the rest died.  We passed no less than 20 rescue vehicles and ambulances.  We drove maybe another miles and again six cars stopped on the road with a beautiful doe in the road, struck in the back area by a car. She was struggling on her front legs to pull up but both back legs were broken.  We had to call 911 as no one's phone was working on the hillside.  Jamie drove us safely to an area to park and we loaded up with cameras and walking sticks and took off downhill to the top of the falls.  DOWNHILL mind you.  We climbed downhill.  It was a bit dangerous as we slide here and there but the area we ended up in was beautiful.  Here are pictures of Kimberly and Don and one of all of us girls together and one of Terry and I.

After we left the waterfalls we had to hike back UP the hill. It took my energy down to zero.  I was not in shape for it!  The next stop was at the top of the mountain where Catskill Lodge use to be.  I have a shot of looking over the Hudson Valley from this beautiful point.

Yesterday morning we had visited Frederick Church's home and Thomas Cole's home as well. The tours were so informative and Church's home is one you must see in this lifetime.  Breathtaking cannot even begin to describe it.

We are off to the horse arena in a few moments and then the Don Fogerty Concert follows.  It is suppose to rain and I already told TP NO NO NO... if it rains, we are not staying. After his four months with pnemonia earlier this year and we are 1558 miles from home (Which we had back tomorrow... three day drive and we pick up our hopefully repaired diseal Passat in Blacksburg).  He cannot get sick.

Saugerties Million Dollar Event this weekend.

God be with you all.... I will stay up with the blog as we travel. My family realizes there is not always signal for the phones in the mountains.

Woke up after a refreshing night sleep and had a hot shower, opened the window to 58 degrees and sun and gave Thanks.

We are staying at Jamie Grossman Williams home in Palenville.  It is a respite welcomed to us.  Jamie's Catskill home here in the Hudson River Valley area was originally an old brick chicken house.  It stands on the side of a hill with the basement and open basement to the back yard and the next two stories on the entrance level.  The home is open like the outdoors... surrounded by nature, the beauty and sounds and peace and God.  Jamie's downstairs studio is absolutely everything an artist could dream of and the upper back deck extends out into nature and invites you to sit and be lulled asleep by the sounds and breezes.

Jamie is one of the finest Landscape Painters I have encountered.  I have watched her work strengthen and deepen in the past years and even asked her last night, what was the secret to the change I saw a few years ago...reason why is her paintings seem to have a touch of unique in them...that element of color contrast that seems pearlized at times.  Seeing some of her work in person left both Terry and I speechless.  I highlighted her name with the link above.  Please take a gentle "walk" through the Hudson River Valley with Jamie.

Red Barn Beside The Creek

The auction was last night and my painting sold to a horse family from Connecticut.  The new owner seemed thrilled as she purchased several pieces from the auction.

We are off today and Jamie is going to tour us on the best painting spots of the masters.

OH my Gosh, we are here! We arrived in Palenville NY around 9 pm last night.  We are up, showered, dressed and heading down stairs for a full breakfast.

We ended up yesterday morning finding out the Cam Sensor was not working on the car. Had we continued driving, the engine would have blown up.  God was truly good as we had stopped at Wendy's and baby car never started again.   They ordered the sensor to be overnighted and it should arrive there today. BUT meanwhile we had to continue north on our journey.

The Enterprise Rental in Christiansburg had three cars.  A tiny yellow something, a paneled cargo van and a Dodge Calibar.  We went with teh Calibar.  About 25% smaller than the Passat and no trunk or luggage room.  Terry figured out had to cram everything into the back end and back seat and away we went.  It was evident it was flaky on handling compared to our Passat, but I had confidence in Terry and total faith in HIM.

Wyatt at the Enterprise was on the job and processed us quickly. He had sent a driver to pick us up and they were kind enough to go out of their way to the BUG SHOP so we could get the rest of our luggage out of the Passat.  The driver was a police officer working part time for Enterprise, Officer Chip.  We shared testimonials and he was so kind and helpful that by the time we left, we felt blessed and energized for the 9-10 hour drive through the Appalachians and the Poconos.  The truck traffic was horrendous and quite dangerous on all the hills.  Some of those truck drivers act like they are in sports cars.

We made it to the New York state line before it turned dark.  Had we not stopped for a bite of food, we would have made it by eight and probably only finished out the turnpike in NY in the dark.

The Clark House where we are staying is delightful.  The owners are from England and France and it gives everything a unique flair in the house.  I am eager for breakfast this morning.

Kimberly Conrad and her husband Don flew in from Denver.  I do not believe they are as at home in a B & B as Terry and I. Kimberly said she was more of a hotel girl.   Not many of those around here.  Kimberly is everything and more to meet her in person. When you only know folks by phone or internet you have no true sense of their being until you meet them face to face.  I felt like I was hugging my sister.
Today we will tour Saguerties and see the art show. The Auction is tonight!  We may drive over to see Woodstock and the Fletcher Gallery as well.  Tom Fletcher hosted all 59 artists from around the world for their contributing pieces.

Off to eat.  May your day be blessed and thank you for your travel prayers and wishes.  We will connect with Daily Painter Jamie Williams Grossman and she has invited Terry and I to sleep at her house the next three days.

I am actually blogging on Wednesday night and will post it automatically tomorrow morning as you read this.

We made an error and filled up with fuel at a station that obvious did not have good fuel.  We made it about an hour or so from there and the car stopped.  We were in the middle of nowhere in Dublin, VA.  After two hours of patience we tracked down a tow truck and were towed to Blacksburg to THE BUG SHOP.   That is where the car is now. The tow truck driver was very nice and dropped us off at the Marriett where we await word of the car.  Not sure of alternate plans.  God's hand is in this because there was a huge wreck on the 81, the highway we were on.  The weather today was HORRIBLE, treacherous, and dangerous. Rain, rain and more rain made it difficult to see and truckers were literally doing over 85 mph in the driving rain. We saw NO hwy patrol out at all.  So we know not what the morrow will bring, but we know He has His hand in this.

Last night I felt totally weak and tired and worn out and amazed and thankful for Terry's ability to drive on to get us out of bad weather last night. We woke to it totally overtaking us this morning and just set out on a pace to make Chambersburg PA... which we only made about 300 miles... about 250 short of our goal.  We have 650 miles to make by Friday at 2 pm.... so what will be will be.

We are going to head to the hot tub, come back, shower, eat some cheese and fruit and go to bed.  The bug shop is due to call tonight about 8pm.  If it is just fuel, they said they will have it fixed. If they do, we will head out with the sunrise. If they don't... we will be here in Blacksburg and probably renting a car to finish the trip back up to NY.

Terry is threatening to sell the car.  It may be part of the equation.   I sincerely appreciate the kind notes as we travel. I pick up emails on my Iphone but have to wait till evening to do my computer stuff.
Keep us in prayers.

I spoke with Vicky and we did get about an inch or more of rain and more is due tomorrow. Our kids in Dallas have been in watch of flooding water as the Trinity River is hitting a high crest soon. Was a small hurricane but brought much needed rain to Texas.

We slept well last night but tired thoughts linger before we get on the road in a few moments. Thought I would have to go buy a hair brush.  LAST trip to NY I forgot my hairbrush.  Must be something psychological about this.  But in the middle of the night I did one of those Sesame Street things were I though back over all my motions before we left and found it this morning.

We spent the night in Cookeville TN at a brand new Marriott Fairfield Inn. New rooms and beds never used before. That does not happen very often.  Not sure what our stop over will be tonight...but it will probably be in Pennsylvania.

Made the mistake of eating at Cracker Barrel.  We won't do that again on this trip. TOO rich. Our diets have changed so much and that was way rich.  I had two eggs and part of a pancake and that was too much. Poor Terry had chicken and dumplings.  PLUS veggies and many biscuits with gravy or honey.

Dinner was in the car and it was cheese, ritz crackers and fresh organic plums.  Oh and one potty Stop where he picked up a mocha coffee.

The truckers are dangerous....did take pictures of one that was ALL over the hwy.  Tell me again why we didn't fly? God was so good last night to ease my racing mind and allow me a good 8 hours of sleep. I am hoping Terry is feeling awake for the drive today. We did close to 640 miles.

It was too late last night to upload some photos of the trip. Am testing out the new camera a high speeds you might say.

God bless you in this day.

This is a short blog. We are heading out for New York this morning.  Housesitter/dog sitter, bird sitter in place, paintings all boxed and ready to ship. The piano piece is a new commission I just finished yesterday.

So hopefully we will make Tennessee tonight... Memphis or Nashville.  I would love to make Cookeville but don't know if we will make it that far.

So this will be updated every morning before we leave and cover what we see along the way.
Kimberly Conrad is meeting us in Palenville NY and Terry and I will be staying with a fellow Daily painters from that area.  I am looking forward to the auction on Friday night to see what all the artwork looks like .... and then photographing the horses in the arena.

Well it is finished. It truly evolved from the original first layers and even with the changes as they occurred I trusted Him for the outcome.  I had my occasional doubts, but the final piece is truly breathtaking in person.  It made me brave and yesterday I took another one that I have posted before and did the same process with it and you will see it tomorrow.

This one ships out on Tuesday going east...southeast. Terry is taking it off the stretchers for shipping.

Preparation is always important in life. Sometimes we get so caught up in the preparation, we forget to let things happen naturally.  Life has a flow to it. When we stop it up and build damns and levees and irrigate things... we divert the natural flow of life.  Paintings are the same way.

Are you over planning and over preparing in your life?  Let it go and Let God.

Here is the slide show for the Artists of Texas. Our show has 45 artists from 31 different cities in Texas and the show opens Nov 2-Dec 31.

PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
September 4, 2010

Laurie Justus Pace's Painting Herd on the Hudson Selected as the Cover Art for the Pfizer Million Official Show Program

SAUGERTIES, NY (September 4, 2010) -- HITS is pleased to announce that it has selected Laurie Justus Pace as its cover artist for the Pfizer Million Official Show Program which will be distributed to all exhibitors and spectators at the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix on Sunday, September 12.

Laurie Justus Pace is an accomplished and award-winning artist from Texas whose work is best described as being contemporary impressionism. She is one of the 59 artists whose artwork was selected for the HITS-on-the-Hudson Equestrian Art Exhibition & Auction.

Pace's submission, Herd on the Hudson, is an impressive and bold work of oil on canvas that measures 24" x 36", and was created specifically for the HITS-on-the-Hudson Equestrian Art Exhibition. In addition to gracing the cover of the show program, Pace's piece will also be one of the 85 Lots featured in the up-coming HITS-on-the-Hudson Equestrian Art Auction on Friday, September 10 at the show grounds in Saugerties, New York. All the artwork featured in the Exhibition will be auctioned live by curator Tom Fletcher of Fletcher Gallery, to raise money for FAMILY of Woodstock, Inc. and the participating artists.

According to her website, Laurie's journey in life has encompassed many careers from runway model to graphic artist, from musician to singer, from teacher to artist. She believes the greatest influence in her life is the beauty that God provides daily.

A degree in Art, eight years with an advertising agency, and twenty-five years teaching art has come full circle to winning top honors yearly at international art shows in oil, watercolor and photography. Viewing a Pace painting is a rich experience that drips with color and emotion. Her passionate works are alive with movement, boldly created with a wide brush and a palette knife. She loves working with oils, dramatically carving out the paint and transferring her energy to the canvas, then ultimately on to the viewer. Pareidolia is the name for what happens when Pace gazes at her thickly applied strokes of oil paint and begins to visualize equine forms. It's the same term used to describe the phenomena of seeing animals in clouds, or faces in the moon.

She is an associate member of Women Artists of the West (WAOW) and the Oil Painters of America, The Daily Painters, Artists of Texas, The Five Graces, The American Watercolor Society, and Professional Published Fine Artists. She is a listed artist on askart.com and artprice.com. In addition, she has exhibited at the Dallas Committee of the Fine Arts in Dallas. Internationally, private collectors, senators, ambassadors and large corporations have selected her work to decorate their homes and offices. Her artwork has been published and featured in numerous magazines, newspapers and books.

In addition to seeing her work in the HITS-on-the-Hudson Equestrian Art Exhibition & Auction, you can also find her work in The Rare Gallery, Jackson Hole, Wyoming; The Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas; Earthworks Art Gallery, New York; SR Gallery, Hong Kong; Our House Gallery, California; and Mirada Fine Art, Denver, Colorado. The cool has arrived but for a short time.  High fifties as I write this blog this morning. Morgan is headed out from Lewisville to help Terry with yard work and our beach area to the pond.  We cannot burn anything due to the burn ban but Terry has his new chain saw to put into action.

Yesterday I mentioned a quote from Ben, the one about "You can get glad just as fast as you get sad/mad."  The more I thought about it, I wondered what exactly does it take to get your spirit to soar and rebound from the sad or mad.  Each of us has a spiritual strength woven through out our being. It must be this force that is able to uplift us in the darkest times. It is this same spirit that supports us when we extend ourselves out past that line of safety... that one we always set for ourselves.   Many times we miss something special because we limit what we do.  This keeps us from realizing our full divine potential.

See how often you use that spiritual strength.  It might be to start something new, like giving up sugar, or beginning an exercise program.  It could be giving up one job and starting a new one, or even having the faith to step out and start your own business.  It might mean giving up coffee or alcohol.  It might even mean giving up being grumpy or negative.  Every moment is a new and it is a moment filled with potential and possibilities.

You are meant to soar with the power of the spirit. You are meant to let go of the fears that hold you back. You are meant to use the abilities and gifts God has placed in you as He created you.  Now have true faith in the Father and allow yourself to soar.
