The Painting: Well I started it six years ago... found it in the closet and decided perhaps I need to finsih it!  Stay tuned over the next few days for work on it. Today was busy with dress fittings for the upcoming wedding and birthday shopping for Tink. Stacey and I had a wonderful day....so I did not paint today.

The Thought:  This painting is a  long work in progress... as is life.  Just when you think you are getting the hang of things, life changes.  Never better, never worse but ALWAYS different.  Sometimes I shake my head and can imagine God chuckling as He made the plans for my life before I was even breathing here on earth. I think we all remain in suspense in our own lives never knowing what the day will bring.

My friend, stay open to change. Think of yourself on a raft floating down the river...there are rapids and smooth areas...relax and allow yourself to float through breathlessly with out a snag or a hiccup...it is only when you fight the river that you lose.  You lose power, strength and even your life. Stop trying to control the flow of the river. God is on that raft with you and He will guide you through the rapids and the rocks along the way.

The Painting: A new palette combination today as I worked on this composition.
The Thought:  Do ever think, "If I just wait for the right moment...'?  Is there a right moment? Was there a right moment for David before he launched the stone with his slingshot?  Did he wait and think, or did he allow God to guide him as he shot that smooth stone?

Each of us is very important to God. The gifts given to us were uniquely for us.  God would not misplace or miss use us, because we are precious to Him.  In you is that special spiritual gift... are you waiting to use it ...waiting for the right moment?  You should not... you should just have faith that you will act at the right moment, His moment for you.

Be patient today as you do wait for God to work through you.  Remember to celebrate and give thanks to Him for what is in your life right now. He has so much more coming for you.

The Painting:  Another free flowing wide brush horse...

The Thought: Who does the battle belong to in your life?  The most famous battle I remember in the Bible was when David went up against Goliath. WOW... that was something noteworthy for all us little guys in the world that cannot throw a spear or shoot a gun.

David knew the battle was truly not a human battle of strength...he knew it was about the divine power of God.

We all face battles daily, and some get pretty heated and our tempers flare easily.  We must give this anger to God and allow Him to take on the battles.  If we stay centered in Him and know He can conquer anything...it will come to pass.  You must live for God to have the triumphant confidence that David had.   No earthly threat, man or mouth can match the power of God.

As you prepare for this new day make a commitment to give all your battles to Him.

The Painting:  Lots of color and texture in this contemporary colorful horse abstract done in Holbein Duo Oils on Linen Panel.

The Thought:  Despite it all Terry (with his pneumonia) and I finished our 2000 piece puzzle.  We only lost one piece as we did this over the past two months and that was probably when I moved it from the dining room to the kitchen.

Life remains a puzzle. All the pieces are right there in front of us and we are blind to find them.  We are looking for the pieces we think fit and not looking around and seeing what all it there in the world.

The Finished Puzzle of 2000 pieces.

 It was a big one!

May you find all your pieces in the right places today.

The Painting:  Mountain Pony named for the deep caramel browns washing through the background and the horse.  Holbein Duo Oils are so buttery that painting is a joy. Added colors of Indian Yellow, Cream, Madder and touches of blues, which are hard to see in this photo... finish it off as a thickly painted oil with ridges of dimension and color.

The Thought:  I was back out to Mt Vernon with Deborah Whitington my Realtor.  We visited back at the property we found last Friday to explore the boundary lines of the two lots.  Found out the property owns a large section of the pond and a tiny bit of property across the pond.  The pond is spring fed and feeds down into the lake so there are never flooding issues with the house.  We of course met Sheriff Paul and Vicki for lunch at the infamous Mexican Restaurant right off Hwy Interstate 30.  I made it home just in time to pick Crystal up from school.

This morning when I took Crystal to school at eight, it was cold. We both had our seat heaters on and were shivering as the little diesel began to warm up. Driving down a nearby street, we spotted one lone peacock that seems to love living there. He was on the sidewalk almost in front of the house I grew up  and he was dancing...back and forth in a fast darting manner, barely shuffling his feet. There was a black car parked on the street in front of him on the curb and we quickly realized he was dancing trying to attract the peacock he saw in the reflection of the car.  We both broke out laughing.  It was priceless. Of course I never have the camera with me or we are late and I cannot stop. PLUS if we did, he would have immediately stopped dancing, flirting and preening in front of the car reflection. He had found a right handsome partner he was trying to lure.

How often do we do that in life?  We dance and show off in front of a reflective place in mind as we are 'putting on a show' for something that is truly worthy of nothing, including our stopping to notice and 'dance' along with it.  We often pour energy into emptiness or reflections of something that does not truly nourish our soul or bring real happiness to us.

The sight of the majestic bird in those beautiful rich jewel tone colors dancing and showing off before nothing but a reflection will be something etched in my mind a long time.

Who are you 'dancing' for today?   I will be dancing for the Lord and  praising His name as I move about my day.

The Painting:  After painting the Warrior of Old this weekend...and it selling today, I decided to try this approach to the canvas again. It is ever so important for an artist to continue to stretch their minds to climb out of the "box" that holds them into new areas...and NOT areas already being explored and sold by other artists...but new areas. It is truly hard to be original with out having a bit of "other artists" touching in your work, but it truly should be a spiritual experience as you work on your pieces...a passion and a love from your heart.  So embrace my newest in this small pieces of this Gallery Series Spirit of the Equine.

The Thought: Terry is still home with pneumonia.  We continue to work on that puzzle we started before Christmas and I believe we might have it completed this week. Looks like we lost one piece of the daisy flowers, but hopefully we have the rest.  I will take some pictures to show our work..

There is a certain delight we share as we conquer this mindless puzzle of 2000 pieces.  It puts us together for hours with out the tv or computer and I love this. We both take pride as we work side by side on this simple puzzle celebrating and giggling with every "found" piece.

I wonder if God feels that way as each of us "FIND" our peace with Him? God delights in providing us with our heart's desires.  It will never be on our schedule but on His.  Everyday we are to serve Him and do what we can for Him in that day.  He will wait as He wants to see you be a blessing to others.  Nothing blesses others better than knowing that real joy of trusting God and believing with out doubt that He works on behalf of those who love Him.

Are you a lost puzzle piece in His Kingdom?  Time to be found...and placed in the perfect spot to complete both your life and His plans.

The Painting: A whimsical piece for the blog that was joyful to paint. This is another small one in this years Equine Series.  The small ones are affordable and fun to collect. The 5 x7 size is easy to frame.

The Thought: This is your time... yes today, this day is your time.  Our birth, our day, our time, is all His. Each of us are here for a purpose, no different than the time spent on this painting today as it was meant to be painted and the joyful colors were there to express the lightness inside of me. (We finished cleaning the studio...pictures will follow this week.)  With the studio clean, I am ready to paint.  It was my time to do this painting.

As you begin your day today, know that this is the day you have starting before you, is to be used for only the best.  God will direct you as it is His day He has given you.  How can you serve Him best today?  Some will wake with a headache not wanting to begin the week. Others may wake still battling the flu or a bad cold.  A select few will wake happily ready to face the new day with it's new challenges.   God knows right where you are and has this day prepared for your good.  Are you ready to accept it and live it for His good?

I hope you will rest in the joyful painting above and that it's many colors will remind you of the many facets of life in every day that are there for you to participate in. It is when you stop participating that things begin to fall apart and depression sinks in.

You are in the right place...right now. If you feel you are not, get up and make changes.

The Painting:   I have been cleaning out my studio for three days on and off...of course only two hours on Friday and all day yesterday and some this morning already. Hope to mop the floors.  It almost sounds empty in here.. weird.  I found this prepainted canvas with wonderful mauves, blues and pinks like you see in the sky at sunset as the sun departs the sky and the moon wanes overhead between the sunset clouds.... peaking out early.  We saw those last night on the way home from eating hamburgers...   So as I painted on my newly cleared off table... this came to the top with soft colors showing well used muscles of an ancient horse from my dreams.  He is gorgeous. He is the Warrior of Old.

The Thought:   One of my favorite episodes (and I rarely watch TV..but Terry found Two and a Half Men on TV at 6:30 in the evenings during the week.... and we laugh till we cry.) in Two and a Half Men is when Charlie is teaching young Jake, about 12 years old... how to cover everything with the words,  "I understand."  The entire episode keeps you in stitches as you begin to realize you can use that phrase almost 99.9 percent of the time and it works and people think you are wonderful.

"I understand."

So now days around our house we have taught Crystal not to always say, "I am sorry" but to say, "I understand".  You know, it truly works and it so much better for all of us.

"I understand."

Normally when folks are down and under pressure we say, "I am sorry."   NADA GOOD.  Next time say, "I understand."  The empathy in those two words is huge.  So many times we are all under pressures that no one truly could identify with, but to hear someone say, "I understand" breaks down so many barriers and it sends out caring love to the person you say it to... you are identifying with them at their level.

Know my friend, God knows the hidden thoughts of your heart right now. He knows your circumstances from His view and that is all encompassing. He also knows how you feel.  God knows you best and he does understand...truly understands.

Trust in Him this day ..... do you understand? I understand.

The Painting:  Vivid colors on this composition with a strongly chosen palette prior to painting. This horse is carved out of thick paint...the mane is totally ridges and hills of paint ribboning down the canvas.

The Thought:  Back to Basics... was the thought in one of my daily reads this week. I was back to basics yesterday with a trip to Mt Vernon with an old friend, Deborah Whitington, Remax Premier Dallas... to drive around and look at property and dream of moving back out to where you can breath and not have to lock your car everywhere you go.  It is in the top ten retirement cities in the nation or maybe in Texas..I am not sure...but our oldest friends are there... Paul and Vicki Fletcher. Paul is the sheriff I write about all the time and they have a website... paulfletcherjr.com.

We arrived there about noon yesterday and began out trek at the local Caldwell Bankers office with generous help from agent Pam Swanner.   Talk about a first class agent that was upfront, helpful and easy to work with... she was it.  Deborah coming out of Dallas was on a different system for getting in and out of houses. Pam was so good to drive around opening them for us to see.   The first was a smoker's house and both Deborah and I teared up and vacated immediately. They should give warnings about those homes.

The second one was in Kings Country, an older subdivision on the lake. The house was on King Charles and it was a well built country home.. not much area for a studio, but lots of possibilities. It had a small master bedroom and stairs..ugh.

The third house was pretty darn good.  It was not built maybe as structurally well as the second one, but it was on a very small inner lake with a view of the big lake, Lake Cypress and it had room for my baby grand piano.  It was in a subdivision called Tall Tree.   It also had a fence yard for the dogs and lots and lots of land around the house.  Lots of area for boats, cars and anything you could want, including an RV.  There is a fenced yard for the dogs, a work shop heated and cooled for TP, a hot tub and gazebo, a huge master bedroom overlooking the small lake...but a very very small kitchen. That is a draw back... a true challenge I guess.

I am not sure we are budget ready to retire, we have much to think about to get "Back to Basics" to live a simpler with out all the extra stress... to wake up with the sun and have coffee on the glassed in porch overlooking both lakes...trees, squirrels, birds and gulp...yes snakes... my cousin Annette would tell me to get Geese I think.... basic living where it does not matter about doing everything or anything... just living close to the beauty of the earth and not crammed into a postage size lot.  The dogs would be smiling at least... so we have much to contemplate... are we ready to go back to basics?  Is our budget ready?   We are in contemplation and prayer.  It may have to wait a year but we both know when the time is right, God will provide exactly what we need in answers.

My thanks are to God for such a gorgeous day to be out yesterday...and to my sick husband who stayed at home and strayed out only to pick up our daughter from school. This is only the second day of rest I have had in almost two years.  I do not get them often...so I was truly blessed and enjoyed every moment of it, including the small town Mexican food and seeing the Fletchers.

Believing in abundance and His Grace,

Laurie

The Painting: Wonderment always when things go together like this... harmony in painting at it's best. Holbein Duo Oils and Liquitex Acrylics all in tune together with the Spirit and my paint brush on canvas.

The Thought:   We are connected through life with our ancestors tracing way back to early times and the development of man as he made his way finding food and making shelter as he left the Garden of Eden.  There is basic instinct to survive in all of us, put there by God so we don't just give up and starve to death.

This painting is called the Hunter in reflection of that strength to survive. Horses in the wild have a natural instinct to be aware of danger before it hits using their sense of smell and the changes in nature around them. They are constantly listening and sniffing.

God has built this into us as well, but I do not think we use it to our advantage.  Our control issues are more important than our listening.  If we would do more listening...pausing, waiting to hear and know, we would be in less confusion and stress in our lives.  In my painting the HUNTER is pausing to sniff the wind and listening carefully to the sounds carried by the wind.  We get these same messages provided for us, but are we pausing to listen?

Believing in Abundance,

Laurie

The Painting:  Shadows of a mood I presume. Terry is still pretty sick and it makes painting hard at times.  I am cooking much more too to feed him healthy foods. This is one of Crystal's favorites as I finished it.  Very Moody with deep blues and mauves.

The Thought:    Harmony is strong in the painting above because I chose to work a analogous palette staying with my spirit colors of mauves and blues.. with tiny accents of opposite complimentary colors.

Harmony is around us in God's creation.  Life seems to twist and knot in every direction, but harmony truly exists woven through out.  When you are tired, if you do some exercising, you will find yourself revitalized and full of energy.  When you are down or twisted...time to pray for harmony in your life.  Make that a daily happening.  With it will come serenity and balance.  Centering your soul with prayer will bring the Spirit of God into your life; with the Spirit of God in your life will come Harmony.

Peace to you my friends..

The Painting:  This painting is emotional Textured, thick acrylics with contrast and color exploding.. just as a horse running through puddles and rain. Terry and I watched Return to Snowy River last night..pretty darn cool watching those horses run. His pneumonia continues and his chest is still full and tight. We go back to the doctor on Thursday... his antibiotic only has one more day.

The Thought:  Can you share the grace?  There are times you are in a "hugely" wonderful mood. Something positive has made you smile deep inside and you feel safe and content with the happenings.  It is so easy to say grace and thanks when it occurs. Those surprise blessings often come out of nowhere... but they are from somewhere, they are from God.

This contentment was brought by the Spirit to bring you good and only good.  Divine power delivered it to you...and from from that moment anything seems possible. Use this positive energy to pass on to others in your life journey. Give reassurance where you can, and brighten someone else's day with loving thoughts and prayers.  Allow His Grace to inspire you to bless others and from there more blessings flow as those folks pass them on to others.

May His grace inspire you today... you are blessed to be a blessing.

The Painting:  FINISHED!!!  The collector book has been ordered from LULU.com. It is a roughly 25 page hard backed book of the creation of this painting.  I will be varnishing this later this week and preparing it for shipment to Miss Jana.

The Thought:  In my dream, he was standing beside me... my husband.  I am not sure what we were doing but we were working very hard and we were working together.  When I turned around I felt the Spirit surrounding me, but there was no one behind me.  As I turned back to the front...there was Jesus, working in front of us, preparing the way.    For the life of me I cannot remember what we were doing, but we were working hard moving branches and clearing a path.

There are many forces in this world I would consider negative in nature, always popping up in situations when you least expect it. It is only through Christ that we can triumph over this spiritual darkness. Wearing the armor of God and standing together with Christ against evil is the only way.
If Jesus leads your heart and your life, you stand with His greatness surrounding you and God protecting you.

Praying for your protection ...
Laurie

The Painting:  It continues....

The Thought:  I have to share with you today a new Christian Author.  I just finished a book by her, not knowing anything about her, her background or how much she had written.  My favorite series is Liz Curtis Higgs Scottish Series. It is one of the best series I have read to date.  Terry ordered the book "The Frontiersman's Daughter" for me for Christmas. It was written by Laura Frantz.  It was one of those books that was written so well, you didn't know what would happen. It was not a milk toast book with only predictability, but a book that was written as people lived and breathed and reacted to life, not always making those right choices.   It was a book that was so good I savored it and enjoyed every time I had time to read.  Before I was even through with it, I flew to amazon.com to see what else I could order by Laura Frantz.  I was disappointed as there was only a preorder for her next book due out this year.

Current Book to order, just click the book.

Well, the more I reflected I decided I was blessed as I get to build up in anticipation to the next book and hopefully more to come from this new author. Reading is my salvation and joy with the Bible and my pleasure and retreat with my other books. I have a huge library and I reread all of them... delighting in the stories and finding new things in them as I do.

New Book to pre-order, just click the book!

I wish you joy in life in whatever you do!

The Painting:  CONTINUED...

The Thought:  Husband is very sick. He has pneumonia. We spent most of yesterday morning at the doctor (you know if you follow me on facebook.) and the final diagnosis was pneumonia. After several hours there and $128 worth of drugs, we hope that combined with dedicated prayer will get him back on his feet soon.

I have been praying quite a bit over the past 24 hours as I watched him slide deeper into congestion and dry cough.  Praying is always the first thing I do.. if not I panic and that is not good.  The hardest part is the patience to wait and listen to wait I need to know.  It is only after this time is it time to take action.

Praying yesterday and listening both to God and to Terry's wheezing in his chest... I told him early evening we should run up to our Doctor's office.  He fought me on that one.  Our doctor is someone we grew up with, so I put in a call and left a message and later that evening he called me back.  He said as I did, they needed chest xrays.  So action began at 7:30 when I woke him and informed him we were leaving in 15 minutes.

When you pray you must pause and be ready to see what fills your mind or your heart as you wait for that answer.  Do not allow your mind to control what you hear; intuitively sense of course of action and accept it.  As you do you will take the first step in being ready to take that action.

I will keep you posted on his healing... step by step.

Praying for health for you and yours,

Laurie

Preparing.....

Contact me to commission a painting. Laurie

The PaintingPreparation for a commission is always important to communicate between the collector and my brain.  This is the first step.

The Thought:  Prep work is important when you are starting a commission piece.  It is essential to make sure you and the client are on the same page when you are beginning a painting for their home.  I spent some time on the phone with this collector and she sent numerous emails with pictures of the room from all angles. I was honored she wanted my artwork among the many pieces she had hanging already.

One of the most important pieces to the puzzle is the palette of colors that will be used. When you are planning a piece it makes a difference as to cool palette or warm palette  or even an analogous palette.
The next few days I will be posting the steps of this painting as it progressed. It is actually drying right now awaiting its prevarnish.  With this particular painting it is going between a large piece done in  oranges and one done in soft greens.  With in this new piece she wanted to tie in the colors of all the other pieces in the room and still compliment her burnt orange red paint in her entry hall that can be seen from the room.  Some folks actually send me fabric samples from their furniture.

I guess it is a lot like putting a puzzle together piece by piece, but when it comes down to it... the spirit must move the painting.  God doesn't need all the prep work I need, but I am confident when I do go to my canvas to paint, that His Spirit guides my creativity.

My blog is short, my hubby is very sick and time is precious to me. Lack of sleep and awake time in prayer right now as I balance caring for him and our household at the same time.

Blessings of abundance.

The Painting: This is another small piece of one of the little girls above in my header on the blog. The family went to Ireland this summer.... I love painting these little miniatures.

The Thought;  I may have to be thoughtless today... no sleep, sick husband. He was up and down all night coughing, wheezing etc.  He has had a sore throat and I got meds from Northlake Health Food Store for that... but now the chest is involved. I started him on Mucenix ( I think I spelled that wrong) this morning at 5 am.   SOOO... not much in my head today, my eyes keep nodding off if I sit longer than 10 minutes.

I am in prayer for the those in Haiti.  That includes all the support and relief groups dedicating their time and concern as well as those that have been on ground zero where the earthquake occurred.  The world seems so much smaller these days with the internet and tv news.  Everything unfolds before us in an instant and we are wisk to that very place.  God has a good plan, it is His plan and He knows what will be; so when things happen to us,  it is how we react and deal with these things that determines our growth as believers. God is moving and unfolding His plan all around us, just as a painter does on a canvas. He is after all the Great Creator and Head Artist of All.   His brushstrokes can change the composition of our lives in a single breath.

The Painting: Another diamond in the rough. When I began this as a charcoal sketch on canvas, my mind had a direction already planned. As I painted it did not come together as I knew it would and I felt lost with it. I hung it on the wall...went away for a few days, came back and finished it.  This morning before blogging I took pictures and looked at them and realized I had finally captured the spirit I wanted, but not in the colors I thought it would be.  When I hung it up last night to finish drying for the second go round, I was thinking, who could I gift this to so I don't throw away the canvas.  But the moment I downloaded the camera...the presence was there and I was amazed. IT had been there all the time, I just could not see it because I had something else I was looking for that did not exist.

The ThoughtWhat I wrote above should be the thought....so often we look at our lives and feel we are in the midst of disaster. We can't quite control things enough to get them to go the direction we feel they need to move and we feel overtaken by circumstances around us.  Well, at least I do.  We are so blinded by what is around us in our minds, we no longer can truly see what is physically there.

When I take that time to back away from the thoughts swirling in my head and give the "oh my gosh what am I going to do" a long rest, I am able to go to the Father in prayer. Stepping away from the chaos into His arms brings instant relief. It is up to us to decide if we take that relief with us as we engage back in our world and our situation.  Seems like just when things get the roughest that is when God's best reveals itself.  The longer you try and control things, the longer it is until you reach that point of closure or even opening to something GOOD  in your life.

Take yourself out of the midst of it all today and spend a moment in a safe nurturing place.  I have you in my prayers.

Laurie

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.”- 1 John 4:20-21

The Painting:  Something about a journey sinks in with this painting.  The roughness of the terrain beneath the hooves speaks of unpredictable ground;  the background also uncertain as to sky or mountains, leaving much up to the observer. I rather enjoyed my journey as I painted it.

The Thought:  The painting reflects my thought as I realize how uncertain I am of the wheres and whys of both today and tomorrow.  The steady hand of the Lord in my life is what maintains my sanity.

I have found myself falling asleep at night with my prayer beads in my hand.  Last night I looped it twice around my wrist and when I was jostled awake by Terry's snoring, I had them in hand and pulled them off. Circling around I begin praying using the ACTS method on the four groups of seven.  Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication.  In the early hours of 2 a.m. I normally cannot make it around the circle. When I am wide awake and praying, the circling takes 30-45 minutes to make the circle. They bring great comfort to me at all hours.

I had misplaced my original set given to me by a friend and ordered a new set for myself and Crystal from  Inner Light.   Nancy is a wonder to work with, especially with my artistic wants and needs. Crystals is done in beautiful greens and turquoise...and Nancy did mine in something called Jasper beads I believe and they have all the beautiful earth tones I wanted.  Since getting them last week, it gives a deeper purpose as I pray because of the hands on effect with my mind. (That is the left side of my brain!)  I use them three to four times a day and my prayer time has increased as has my focus.

Focus today on those you need to pray for who many not be able to pray for themselves. There are many in our lives battling cancer, Alzheimers, diabetes, unemployment, divorce, alcohol, drugs, loneliness etc....

Remember when you pray to give thanks for the many bounties we do have with our food, shelter, love, family, friends, the soil of the earth, the song of the birds, the fresh water, the cover of the sky with the sun and moon, etc.

Adoration, praise and thanks to our Father who cares for each of us.

'Four Black Horses' Music Opera Series Michael Dutka Daily Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

The Painting:  A celebration of life, a celebration of music and a painting led by the Spirit of New York Opera Writer Michael Dutka.  Listening to the cd of the opera while I painted and listening to the story of these dignified majestic black horses brought tears to my eyes and passion to my palette knife. I do not know if my painting is strong enough to capture the love these four black horses had for their princess.

The Thought: First short note: The Tink was here yesterday.  Yes, I have pictures, but they are still on my camera so you will have to wait.   We took her to our favorite Mexican Restaurant and she loves Mexican food.  Four Generation Uncle Julio's on Lemon Ave in Dallas.

My main thought goes with the opera story.  I think I shared it before, but you have to read through it again.  The four black horses were part of the Princess' life and took her everywhere. They were accustomed to posh stables and a beautiful royal life. When the Princess fell ill, her son sold the horses because he wanted  a new fangled car instead of horses. The horses were sold off to another man and this opera is about what the horses think in their new position...their new job you might say.  They meet up with the princess in the end one more time as they carry her body to be buried. They do not realize it at first, but during the procession, they discover they carry her in their wagon.  Think of what that burial march was like for the princess with music and the whole kingdom turning out in respect...the colors, flowers, music and all the lives of the people there... the color in my painting is a reflection of the energy that day as those four black horses drew the wagon that carried the coffin with their princess in it. Proudly they bore her to her resting place.

Micheal's work is full of much grace and beauty. His compositions reflects every innuendo and facet in the minds of the four horses and their reflections to life before and now. He draws out so tenderly on their different personalities and views of life as a royal horse and now a working horse. The music ranges from daunting to uplifting as the story weaves through the melody lines.

It is rare to mesh painting and music for such a specific purpose. I am flattered that they asked me to paint this in celebration of this great work.

In your life you will reflect back many times to "Before" and "Now' and compare often what you had then to what you have now. Sometimes it is better, sometimes it is worse.  Or is it really worse or better?  Not really. Things change. How you view that change determines the outcome of everything.
Relying on God through those changes will make a huge difference in your life. Pray to Him and allow Him to bring you comfort.

The Painting: It reminds me of lemonade on a hot day...but is is 8 degrees outside. Hummm, what is wrong with this picture. Wishful thinking? Wonderful overlays and drips and a sturdy strong horse.

The ThoughtI was reading Psalm 27 this morning. This is another Psalm written by David.   It reminds me of something I need tacked inside my brain...when you have those unexpected panic attacks or someone is rage driving down the road and they cross your lane, or even when someone falls ill in your family.  That is when you need Psalm 27.

"The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid.  When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.  Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident." Psalm 27:1-3

David writes on that he asks one thing of the Lord, that he may dwell in the Lord's house all of his days.... to be able to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord in his heavens.  David knows the Lord will keep him safe from his enemies and troubles...and David only seeks the Lord.

"My heart says of you, "Seek his face! Your face, Lord, I will seek." Psalm 27:9

I have to remind myself in the troubled times to simply trust and seek the Lord's face...seek His work, His peace and His grace to light my way.  He is there to light your way too.

Whatever you are fighting in life, it is time to let it go. The Lord will lead you in a straight line away from the chaos.  You have to be ready to let it all go.  Are you fighting yourself?

The Painting:  Such expression when I work in values on the color wheel that adjoin each other. There is power in these warm colors...can you feel it working in the painting?

The Thought:  I have a thought to give you to ponder... think right now of prosperity.  What really is prosperity?  There are times when you find yourself in a comfy couch or chair or even curled up in bed and you think for a second, "It can't get any better."

And of course there are times you are very uncomfortable and you squirm around trying to be still or to relax and you just can't.   You are seeking the comfortable feeling and you can't get there.

Sometimes I wonder if you can compare prosperity to this.  It is strictly point of view and not necessarily amount of money.  What is it you hope to find right now?  What will bring you prosperity? It is greater peace and strength, or is it financial only?  Do you want a change in your job or career?  Do you need more skills in your life to be prosperous? Are you missing challenge in your life? What exactly are you seeking?

I am thinking the Spirit is gently urging you to be the best or find the best for you. Turn to the Spirit, to God in prayer and seek His direction. Trust He will show you...because He will. He will provide the resources, the strength you need and the confidence you seek to complete it all. With this will come greater joy and prosperity. Along with the journey will come wisdom.

Hide and seek this is not...it is trust and believe.

The Painting:  This picture was sent to me by a collector in CT.  I love painting her kids; they are in the banner at the top of this blog.  This is not a good representational painting of Kyra but mainly capturing her with the horse... catching the feeling and the mood.  I want to do a large painting, maybe 8 x 10 or so of just her face with the horse.   I will be sprinkling these in as I do them.  The next may be a soccer girl... from a collector up north.  Wait and watch.... meanwhile remember to send me a picture if you have a good one for me to paint.

The ThoughtYesterday I spent time in Psalm 25.   Do you know your Psalms pretty well?  The Lord is my Shepherd is the 23rd Psalm...then the 24th Psalm is a strong song followed by the 25th which I was led to read as I am praying for direction.  Starting with the first verses...

"To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God.  Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me"

We have to start with the trust thing first and foremost.  To lift up your soul and give yourself 100 percent to God, you have to trust Him with it completely. When you do, you are giving Him power to control and when you finally reach that step...you begin to realize how much stress is gone from your life.
Verse 4 and 5:
"Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me,  for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long"

This is where you walk in His way and not yours; then verses 15, 16 and 17...
"My eyes are ever on the LORD,  for only he will release my feet from the snare. Turn to me and be gracious to me,  for I am lonely and afflicted.  The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish."

I think this speaks to so many of us today in our busy lives.  We have done this to ourselves and we cannot break free with out relying on Him to make the journey with us.   Pick up your bible and read the rest.  It is worth the read several times. ...both the Psalm 25 and the bible itself.

Wishing you a healthy happy weekend full of life and love.

The Painting: This is one of my enjoyable acrylic wash layers that I love doing. I have not decided if I am done with it or not... so you might see it again.  The soft blues are my favorites to work with.

The Thought: PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE... my heart is praising.  I got my first box of my Heart Books from LULU today and they turned out beautifully.  I truly give all the credit to God for the majority of my work. There are those times I jump in without the spirit, and altho I execute a painting, it lacks the spirit.  Then I have to give incredible thanks to Jan Wenstrand and her magic in correcting all my typos and grammar issues.  Some folks are so good at that, and some of us are not!

So this day I am celebrating the gift with praises of joy and adoration and thanks. It will be a little lighter today and life will be a little bit sunnier too. (Despite the temperatures way below freezing...it has been close to 20 years ago that Dallas saw it this cold.)

One day at a time... can you praise Him today for something special in your life?

Blessings of Abundance,
Laurie

The Painting: A change in color palette. This was drawn off on canvas before the new year started but I have not been in the studio to work until today. I just finished it up last night and decided to post it right away.  I love the play of colors of the rust and blues.

The Thought:  Sometimes I have trouble with staying focused with the phone ringing all the time.  Yesterday was ONE of those days. Terry was back at work, Crystal was at school and EVERYONE decided to call.  Unfortunately it slowed me down quite a bit as I had so much to do yesterday and I only finished the one painting.  I did not even get sketching on the next ones.  My sketch book is full of future paintings... and maybe later today I can paint again.

I have ideas of going off into a weird direction and of course never know what will happen with the experimental pieces. They say a child's imagination has no limits and they can surpass our adult minds with their creativity.  I know Crystal runs circles around me with her imagination and she is 17.  I doubt her imagination will ever slow down.  Meanwhile in my limited brain I still have ideas that are different and creative and I am anxious to carry forth in faith to play creatively and experiment with my thoughts and sketches.

You too need to be free to indulge in your imagination no matter what the age.  Use this gift to create the life of your dreams and look beyond the limitations you have placed on your life. Many of those limitations are things like our 'stuff' or our 'bills' or our 'obligations' .  One day you will leave this all behind and soar with angels to new heights. Why wait totally until then?  It is time to try your wings and begin sorting out those limitations and free your life to be what God has prepared for you.

Today I am going to do that with my art work... why don't you try it in something you are doing?

The Painting: Another Oldie Goldie. Tomorrow I return to my easel after about a two week break. God is good and I know I am ready to come back and create some new things....it is an open book and a new step every day... take out those paints and let the flow, run, drip, glob and make art happen.

The ThoughtExpiration Date.... we were at the store and I was checking expiration dates on things to make sure Murphy's Law did not encourage me taking something home that we could not eat. I hate returning things... so much trouble to keep up with receipts and then remembering to take it with you on the next trip there.

Expiration Dates... do we have those on our gifts from God?   I tell Crystal daily she has to use her gifts.  We are just beginning to identify them, but the child of my heart has a huge heart to want to love and be loved.  I pray daily for the right words to heal and help her on this journey.

Now...back to expiration dates.... do our gifts have them?  I sort of think so.   Use it or lose it.  You have heard that before.  Also practice makes perfect...another phrase from my past.  I can't help but wonder if God hates it when the gifts are given and are unused and often ignored...or returned.  My mom was blessed with tremendous healing gifts.  Lately with my Dad's illness, she has not been able to use these gifts as she always has and I know her own healing will return soon. My eldest daughter, Tink's mom, has these gifts, but has not developed them yet.  Come to think of it, my husband has this gift too. Whenever I am in pain or mounting fear...he is able to pray with me and put his hand on my chest and calm will come.  Not every one can do this... I cannot.  I have other gifts.

Watch those expiration dates on the talents and gifts you have been given.  Start using them before they disappear or expire from lack of use.  Humm, what would those gifts be? I hope you can read these. I made the full list below with the help of Wikipedia.  Find your gifts in the list and write them down.

Gifts of the spirit are clearly distinguished from the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22). Jesus predicted the occurrence of false gifts, particularly in the end time (Matthew 24:24, 7:22,23). Hence while spiritual gifts are very important for a Christian, the fruit of the spirit is a better test of the genuineness of a person.
Gifts of the Spirit Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12,13 & 14, Ephesians 4

Apostle: One sent by God with a holy mission to fulfill; and the supernatural power and spiritual gifts to fulfill the mission. Known by the fruit of the spirit overflowing. Apostolic ministry involves laying foundation. In the case of Paul and Barnabas, we see this expressed in 'church planting' by preaching the Gospel in new areas. Apostles in scripture worked in teams. An apostolic team shared a 'measure of rule' in churches started through their ministry in regions where they are the first to proclaim the Gospel of Christ. (II Corinthians 10.)

Prophet: One who speaks, or communicates a message, authoritatively, as moved by the Holy Ghost. Known by their good fruit.

Evangelist: Someone who desires that all should come to know the truth that God loves everyone so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for their redemption, or someone who is gifted to proclaim this message.

Pastor: A word that means 'shepherd.' Pastors are gifted to lead, guide, and set an example for other Christians.

Teacher: Someone able to understand the more difficult things of God and explain them in a way that is easy to understand and live by in daily life.

Service: Supernatural ability to do for others whatever needs to be done. Divine ability to carry another burden or task without notice or earthly reward.

Exhortation: the ability to motivate Christians to do the works of Christ.

Giving: being blessed by God with resources or time and being able to give them where and when they are needed with a cheerful heart.

Leadership: God-given insight into when something needs to be done, who can do it, how it can be completed, and how to lead those people to get it accomplished.

Mercy: A heart to care for and encourage those who are not able to care for themselves and whom no one else would care for. Knowing who to help and when to help.

Word of wisdom: A message, concept, or bit of wisdom that God reveals supernaturally to the recipient. It may or may not be shared with others.

Word of knowledge: A message, concept, or bit of knowledge that God reveals supernaturally to the recipient. It may or may not be shared with others.

Tongues: First use is a supernatural ability to speak another language not known by the believer speaking it. Second use is a supernatural ability to speak another language not known by the believer speaking it; to build up the body of Christ when the message is interpreted. It is the language of the Holy Spirit.

Interpretation of tongues: Supernatural ability to make tongues a clear message to all that are present to edify, exhort and comfort the body of Christ.

Prophecy: Supernatural ability to receive a message from God to edify, exhort and comfort the body of Christ or a believer. To speak as moved by the Holy Spirit. Not all prophecies contain predictions about the future.

Working of miracles: The ability to perform supernatural acts by the Spirit of God.

Gifts of healing: Supernatural ability to bring or release healing to a person in their body or soul.

Ability to distinguish between spirits: Supernatural ability to know what is from God and what is not from God. Divine ability to reveal a demonic spirit or influence and bring God's power (Jesus' blood) and God's love (Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection) in its place.

Faith: Knowing what you hope for, having a conviction about things you cannot see, trusting God, believing God’s Word, and obeying God. (See Hebrews 11)  Wikipedia

Blessing you with ABUNDANCE in this new year.

"Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

The Painting:  A new mix of mediums and exploring new avenues.  This unique first piece pulls in textured fabric papers and layers of acrylic. OH, by the way... check out the Five Graces blog.  http://thefivegraces.blogspot.com or the website: http://thefivegraces.org

Debbie Lincoln is upping the game plan. She is planning on painting 28 horses in 28 days of February. There is another artist doing 100 portraits in 100 days.  Leave me out on that one.  I can't do horses with Debbie doing them in February, I will have to wait and save them... but this would be a good time to consider 28 days of IMPRESSIONS.  I have several folks that have sent me very very darling, cute pictures of their children doing things.  I am going to do Impressions of the Younger Generation.  Send me your ideas for me to paint... I have a blonde favorite playing soccer, I have a young man leading a horse with his sister on the horse, I have quite a few ...so send me your favorite.  I will paint small, so if you want to buy it, this is the time to get something you want painted...  email images to me.  I won't be able to paint them all, but you will see the best of what I can do! hey Deb, horses would be alot easier!!!!  Wanna trade?

The Thought: If you could choose anything for yourself right now, what would you choose?   What would be something that would serve you through out your life in every situation?

Most folks think about 'stuff'... or they think about a far away destination, or even a treasure box full of gold. It is actually all the 'stuff' that keeps us prisoners.  We are a slave to our 'stuff'.   Uncle George called today and he is cleaning out his years and years of career in the art field from his studio area.  He said it was time for he and Aunt Eola to spool down.  Terry laughed and told him we were already trying to do that.  Every time the kids come over they leave with another box of their stuff I have tucked away.  We also had a call that one of the Pace family cousins died. He was in his 80's and was found dead in his home, alone on New Years Day.  One first thought was he was blessed to go so quickly with out illness of cancer or heart problems.  He didn't have to worry about health 'stuff'.

So after reviewing all of this, I would like to choose God.  With God, I am free to be an expression of His gifts and love. If everyone lived with that thought, the world might be a more pleasant place to live.  Can you imagine a peaceful society world wide?  God is within each person and in God there is good.  We need to find that good not only in ourselves but in others around us.

By choosing God, we choose to experience life to it's fullest and with His peace to support us through our journey.

Blessings of Abundance.
Laurie
