The Painting:  Baby it's dark out here!  Heavy layers of Acrylic adorn this magnificent Stallion.

The Thought:   Well yesterday as we drove home from school with Leah, we went to Winnsboro, Texas.  We had dinner at a pretty good place. Typical country mixture of Mexican American foods on a buffet. The two best things I ate were fresh carrots steamed and HOT coconut cream pie with a two inch meringue.   Terry was deep into country barbecue ribs and enchiladas.

As we left the restaurant the clouds were gathering angrily and lightening was popping all around us.  The wind whipped the left over cartons almost out of my grasp as we headed to the car.   Driving up and through the Piney Woods back north to the lake, we encountered swirling clouds going every direction and extra large raindrops pelting the car.  It was only 5 pm and it looked and felt like a scary midnight hour.   There is no phone coverage racing through this tree covered hills and we had no idea how bad the storm was swirling around us.

A small voice came from the backseat.  "It's okay the cows are still grazing." Terry threw a glance in the backseat. 'Oh yeah?"

"See the cows?"

"Yeah...."

"They are grazing."

"uhum...and ..?"

"If there is going to be really bad weather and tornadoes, cows seek shelter...see look out there... they are still standing there grazing."

Both Terry and I  began to watch for the next pasture of cows and sure enough they were grazing away just swinging their tails.

Do you think in any part of your brain you could imagine everything around you in chaos and things changing right and left and you could stay steady and not react at all?  Just graze away and eat and ignore the trauma?  I think you could if you were focused on God.  Fear is always surrounding us and creeping in through happenings in our lives.  It triggers worry and concern and anxiety.  Not with the cows.  Perhaps there is a lesson in cow grazing for all of us.

Next time things really get traumatic... lets get the cow image in the head...come rain or come shine they graze, only moving to seek shelter for extremely harmful storms or threats.
God gives them the inner instinct to do this with out man.  He give us so much more, we are just too busy running around in circles screaming "the sky is falling."
