"When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remian faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion." Acts 11:23

This is one of my favorite horses that lives in Illinois. The power of the sun rising and the power of the horse as it rises to great the sun.

During the most trying times in our life, God rises before us. We may have our eyes shut, but He is there. Divine grace reveals itself unfailing as the Spirit that fills your life. The sunrise is a building of this divine inspiration as the strong colors ignite across the sky wakening the world with its vivid colors.

Let the sunrise banish your anxiety. Allow the grace of God to move you beyond the self-doubt and fear that fills you today. The light will fill your darkness and give you hope even in the most desperate times.

Let the power set you free.

Abundance,
Laurie

"And God, who searches the heart, know what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." Romans 8:27

This was an oil I did from some photos when we were in the Finger Lake Region for a gallery show opening at Earth Works Art Gallery. We flew in and out of Rochester. We spent an afternoon at the beach on the shores of Lake Ontario. It was beautiful. It was one of those moments of such sheer beauty of the day, relaxation and good company that you just sighed in contentment. God was there that moment, just as He is there this moment today.

Are you contemplating a change in your life right now? Are you burdened by something that seems to pull you down daily? I will reaffirm to you right now that God knows and He will show you the way. Paul Fletcher, the newly elected Sheriff, our friend from high school, was asked by a friend before the election if he was nervous. His reply was, "No, because the outcome has already been written." What an awesome statement to sum up his faith.

God knows and He will show you the way. Doesn't matter if it is a loss of a job, the death of a loved one, the unexpected illness, the failure of meeting a goal, ... feelings of loss overwhelm all of us. Lift your hands to Him, up, open and extend them above your head. Be ready to receive what he does have for you. He will lead you to new relationships, accomplishments, opportunities and back into a positive direction.

Be ready to grow with God today.

Laurie

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!” Phillippians 2:5-8

"Let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquire skill, to understand a proverb and a figure." Proverbs 1:5-6

Oh my what a fabulous day with the baby. We met Larry early yesterday in a huge thunderstorm to get Lauren. She came back to the house cooing and grinning. We played almost two hours and she went down for a nap oh so quickly...she is growing so fast. I can't wait to see her again today!
She slept well in the afternoon too as our power was out and the rain was coming down. Terry and I enjoy napping at the same time.

Dreams of past moments shot through me holding her soft downy head under my chin. The soft smell of baby waffling up to fill my breath as I inhaled her gentle fragrance...BABY. Dreams and memories seem to cross in my heart.

I give thanks this day for so many times in history that great thoughts and great dreams led to propel history forward to a greater good of mankind. Often great intentions from the past were the foresight of generations yet to come. Progress resulted from the understanding of what was ahead. Blessed were those intentions that were prayed over with guided from our Father.

Can you be an inspiration today in your world, your family and your life? Do you have a vision that is close to your heart, yet you hesitate not wanting to fail? Trust in Him... go forward and make your vision a reality. God wll provide the path.

God has more for you......

"Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are

" Exodus 3:5

"Uncreated One" by Chris Tomlin is playing on my itunes right now. "There is none like you."
Some mornings have to start with celebration of music and praise. Today the Tink (Our granddaughter, Lauren, is coming. Actually today and tomorrow. So much for working... we will be otherwise busy.

When Chris Tomlin sings, he truly is passionate...there is none like you God...none like you. This is true for us in His eyes. There is none like you in His eyes either as He created each of us in a unique way; each here on this earth to be in a great relationship with Him; each of us giving our gifts to other; each of us coming together to celebrate His greatness.

When Lauren is here, Terry and I both pray to God giving thanks for this miracle and the gift of spending time with her. We pray for her growth and development and pray that she will know the Lord as we do...that she will stand in oneness with God.

Each of us has our own relationship with Him where we feel secure and peaceful. It is here we are connected to God with body, mind and spirit. I think we get so busy during our days we are only connected on occasion in spirit, often forgetting the mind and body. In meditation they teach you to close your eyes and imagine a place from the past where you felt great peace and go there. I challenge to find this place where you have shared with God. I challenge this to you because many of you will find the closest place you have been with God has been when you were at the lowest point. It is here you are most aware of His comfort when you need it.

Find your sacred space/place to be with Him and bring it to mind through out your day...bring HIM to mind. It is here you will receive His wisdom, guidance and grace.

"OH Great God be lifted high, there is none like you." Chris Tomlin

Wishing you Abundance...

"You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by." Job 11:16

Ask any mother with grown children to talk about when they were in labor giving birth to their children and they will remember all the funny unique things, including the joy of the baby's arrival, but not very many will remember the vivid pain of labor and delivery. The growing years of that child will produce many painful situations as they struggle toward independence.

I think of what Job went through in the bible and know that there was a time after it all happened, that he would remember it without hurt, pain and loss. The devil caused Job's issues, but Job did not know that and wondered why God was doing it all to him. Job's friends did not believe God would do these things either unless Job was a bad person. God is always fair. Elihu was Job's wisest friend. He knew it was not God and told everyone just that. God took to task reminding all of who He was, resulting in Job and his friends asking for forgiveness. God forgave them all. God even made Job successful again where he could move on in life despite the pain and loss brought on by the devil.

No matter what the journey may be, God is there with you. The memory of the happening may stay with you, but time will fade the pain as life fills back into you. Are there things that have happened in your life that you want to forget, or tried to forget? We all have something we cling to from a happening to cruel names or words. Often we carry dislike for someone due to something from the past, not realizing to forgive is to forget. It is time to forgive. It is time to forget.

Let it go today....and move on in your life to the positive side of living.

Grace and Abundance,
Laurie

"I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever." Psalm 45:17

Yesterday Uncle John worked all day prepping walls in my studio. I have been out painting in the garden room discovering that painting while standing on concrete is NOT my favorite thing.
Today he will return and begin putting the color on the walls. It is a simple light grey tone that is in the house everywhere else but our room and one bathroom. With this house being a contemporary, but a Frank Lloyd Wright type, we went with calm grey through out allowing the decor to bring in the color. Most of his architecture was designed around nature and the home fitting into the environment. In all my other homes I have splashed color everywhere. Color is contemporary, but this home is a healing calm home. I need to do an updated slide show to share it. God is here in this home and His power can be felt.

I chose a verse on memory this morning. Do you have a first memory in your life? Can you still describe it and use details? One of my earliest memories is my third birthday party. I know we ate hot dogs and I got sick afterwards. (Now I know it was an allergy to sodium nitrate.) I wore a light yellow sweater that had little tiny flowers and pearls in a simple design across the upper chest/neck area. I can't remember who all was there, but I remember the food, what I wore and my cake. I know my mom was there as her face is in so many of my memories. In that same St Louis home, I remember my mother making home made jelly rolls. Sort of a sponge like cake with jelly on it and rolled up. I have quite a few memories of that house, my bedroom, the hall bathroom with the vent on the floor in front of it; the basement, the kitchen, the breezeway. I could still draw the house plan for it.

Most of my first memories are contentment and love. Not every one is that fortunate. Then, God changes us as we grow older. I know by the mid forties and early fifties my short term memory began to backfire, often leaving me in search of car keys or a missing book. My dad suffers from Alzheimer's and that is a major memory robbing disease.

Why are memories important? Are they important? Life is not about preserving the past, but it is about making today and tomorrow richer, fuller and happier. A memory is part of a relationship in life. Aren't most of your earlier memories tied to a people event or happening? Yes, we all have challenging moments in our lives that we always remember, but the best memories are those times shared with someone else.

God speaks of memory through out the bible. "Do this in remembrance of Me." Luke 22:19. Jesus shares the bread and cup at the last supper. These words live on through all of us today in the shared experience and memory of communion. We spiritually celebrate together as Christians the miracles and grace of God. We make memories daily as we walk our journey with Him, sharing with others.

Picture albums are great, computer pictures and FACEBOOK are good too, but nothing beats LIFE as a real thing; people connecting, touching and sharing the joys and sorrows of a lifetime.

I am thankful you stop and read my blog...but go out today and make a new memory with someone. Make it really special. I am going to visit my dad.

Grace,
Laurie

"The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a solitary place; and the man shall release it in the desert." Leviticus 16:22

The word 'Scapegoat' generally refers to an innocent person who is blamed and punished for the sins and crimes of others. This is often used to sway attention away from the truth in a situation.

In Leviticus, Aaron brings into the temple a bull for the offering to atone for his sin and the sins of his household. He also had two goats with him. One he slaughtered for the sin offering of the people. The second goat was brought forward and he laid his hands on the head of the live goat and confessed over it the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites. These sins rested on the goat as Aaron sent the goat away into the desert carrying all of their sins to a solitary place...in the desert. I guess it meant out of site out of mind? That is where the term 'scapegoat' comes from.

www.biblehistory.net states," Jewish history records that it was a common practice to tie a red strip of cloth to the scapegoat. The red strip represented the sin of the people which was atoned for by the red blood on the mercy seat. According to the Jewish Talmuds, This red stripe would eventually turn white, signaling God's acceptance of the offering. There is an amazing reference in the Talmuds that verifies that after Jesus was crucified, God no longer accepted the sin offering and the scapegoat offered by the Jewish high priests.... "

Seems too easy... to be able to confess your sins over the head of a goat and your slate is wiped clean. Let the goat carry the ugly away from you.

Jesus did not "wear" a red strip of cloth. He came not with the blood of goats or bulls, but with His own blood. He died bearing our sins. It is through His death He sacrificed Himself for Man.

Confess what is in your heart to the Father....release what burdens you. You need not carry the pain any longer. It is here that the peace will begin.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1

I can't help but wonder what the first sunrise was like. Did God stop in His tracks as He painted pinks, purples, and soft azure blues into that first sunrise? Or did He press on to creating and allowed nature as He set it up to take its course?

Yesterday was Earth Day and I painted this painting in celebration of the wondrous earth. I watched the sunrise outside the studio windows overlooking the backyard and used those same colors in my sky.

Look around you today... creation... the earth and everything we have...is from Him.
Celebrate the earth this week and celebrate giving thanks to God.

"I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:1-2

Monday when Terry and were walking in the evening, the last quarter mile we walked through the playground at the school where soccer practice was going on. All over the play ground were end nets set up and tiny legs running after soccer balls. If there was one practice group there were at least 10 or more practice groups...we laughed watching them. As we walked we spotted a group of younger brothers and sisters behind the last goal net. There in the midst of them was a huge mud puddle. You could see the glee in their eyes as they were dancing around it, several poking into the mud with a stick. They shrieks and laughter drew our attention of course. One little boy was leaning way over into the mud with his stick. Another little girl had her shoes off, muddy next to her and she had waded into the muck barefoot. The others were bent over watching. Sure enough in the center of the mud hole was a boy's sneaker....we looked and noticed the boy with the stick was minus a shoe. Obviously he tried to run through and his shoe got stuck.

We tend to do that in our lives... run through mud holes and often get stuck. They seem to beckon to us. There is something about water and dirt and the combination of splashing and making mud pies. The next thing you know you are covered in the mire and streaks of mud slice down your face and arms. Your legs are covered in the slime.

Is that what happens with someone you know? Are they drawn to things that truly are self destructive?

God is able to pull you from it if you are ready to trust in Him... Stand with Him this day.

"At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask! What shall I give you?" 1 Kings 3:5

Remember that child-like wonderment as you thought things over, or if you just saw something you have never seen before? Total inquisitive power pumping through your body and brain.

Are you inquisitive of God? Do you ask Him for things that you need and want? Personally I do not believe there is anything wrong with asking God for things needed or wanted. The actual results are already known by Him as He knows what lurks in your mind and dwells in your heart before you even begin to know.

The important thing before you is the asking; the coming to God in the relationship you have with Him and trusting Him to provide what is best as He is the Father. So the outcome is not always what we ask for, but it will be what is needed for His plan for your life.

During this economic disruption I know many of us are praying to make ends meet. Making bills each month is challenging, especially when you are an artist. I constantly am praying and asking, 'should I return to the classroom to teach?'... and I have even submitted a few applications here or there, like casting my net. Something deep inside quiets me...God will solve the problem at hand. Just by asking Him, I have shown Him that I do need Him in my life, yet how He decides to solve the problem is not important as I do trust Him to solve it in the best way possible.

God does not want me to depend on a solution that I have offered up...like teaching... He wants me to depend on Him. So now I go to step two in my prayer and ask for comfort and peace so I do not stress out over the needs our family faces.

If you decide you can do this on your own and do it your way, you are basically saying you don't need God...and you begin to deal with the problem yourself. That is when I believe we take a different path than the intended one and often it takes years to get back to where we were before the situation occurred.

Speak to Him today and share your needs and concerns with Him. Don't seek a resolution, but seek God instead. He will give you exactly what you need.

"But be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating." Isaiah 65:18

Nothing is the same every day. Nothing ever remains static as change is constant. With change is transition. Often with both of these may come fear or trepidation. It starts out with that funny uneasy feeling either generally flowing through out your body, or just upsetting your stomach.

I think we have to be prepared for change in the way you have to be open and accepting that it is happening all the time. Refocus yourself to a larger picture and take every new change as it comes, learning from it and welcoming it. God is apart of it, you can count on it. With every change and transition comes deeper knowledge from experience. Believe always in the best outcome and know that God is your guide.

Lauren was baptized yesterday. Here is a picture of my mom holding her in the family christening gown. More pictures to come after Natalie gets back to California!

Be open to change today and try to contribute to it in a positive manner.

"People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18: 15-17

Today is Lauren's christening. Tomorrow I will have pictures of course! She will be christened by a minister our family dearly loves. He married Stacey and Larry; he and his wife, who is also a minister, prayed and stayed with the family through Grant's death (Grant died two years ago at age 11.); and now he will christen Lauren, their daughter. Pastor Keith is one of kind in your life time and we are blessed with his touch in our lives.

Dedicating a child to the Lord is a spiritual journey as it begins. Her god-mothers are two of Stacey's oldest and dearest friends. She will wear the handmade christening gown that my mother made, her great grandmother. It was worn by all three of my children and both of my brother's children. The names of every child christened in this dress are embroidered on the slip with the date of the christening. There is a beautiful slip, gown, jacket and hat. Each piece is hand beaded and trimmed with fine lace.

This is Justin, my eldest son, and the oldest grandson... who wore the dress first in 1975. I have pictures of the others, but I could not put my hands on them this early in the morning. My Mom is holding him and my dad is looking at him with a happy grin.

God gives us life and we in turn must give our lives back to God. The energy of His love is the essence of life. God is in each of us and our lives are an expression of Him.

How are you living your life?

SOLD OFF MY BLOG! THANK YOU!!!

"And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Matthew 15:27

There is a terrific new set of artists that invited me to be apart of their postings for Dog paintings. The blog is www.dogartistsunited.blogspot.com. I was thrilled to be included in this group and "wowed" by the artists participating. When you have time, visit and see some new teriffic dog art.

George Eliot wrote: "We long for an affection altogether ignorant of our faults. Heaven has accorded this to us in the uncritical canine attachment."

One thing about dogs is how they love us unconditionally. Those big eyes staring at you when you are sitting there watching TV, or when you are eating and they are parked next to the chair watching your hand move from the plate on the table to your mouth. Yes they are there, abundant with their unconditional love.

Dogs allow you to release stress. You can do this just by petting them. They can handle problems too; when you need to talk, they do not interupt you. As you let off steam and discuss the events of the day...they listen. They turn their little heads cocking them at an angle back and forth trying desperately to understand what you are saying to them. Dogs have a positive outlook... they could teach us so much.

Dogs are referred to as man's best friend. We rely on them to protect us, serve us and entertain us. They reflect to us the heart of their creator. They are always oblivious to our faults and love us despite them all. God seems to love us despite our faults too. God's love for us is unchanging...just like our dog's love for us.

Person by person and dog by dog...prayer by prayer... it is a better world, abundant with love.

Find a dog to pet today.

"Strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way."
1 Corinthians 12:31

The horse above stands out really well in my studio, despite all the bright contemporary pieces... there is just something about her that makes her different. I believe it is the contract of both colors and mediums. This is a commissioned painting for a collector in California. She has been a joy to work with simply telling me direction and allowing me to paint. She loved the black and red I did in an earlier series and wanted something similar, but in this specific size.

I believe my art makes a difference in people's lives. I believe God's spirit is in every painting, and every painting is painted for a specific person before it is even created. My thanks for making a difference rests on God and His spirit alive in my work.

I am sure each of you touch others in your family and in the world around you. You make a difference...making it a better day for someone, or a brighter world for many. God works through you enriching the lives of others. The impact of your life is positive and filled with His grace.

Speak with His fine gifts...giving in kind to everyone.

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
2 Corinthians 3:17

In the spirit of the painting I wanted to stir my thoughts to the absolute freedom that you felt the day school let out for the summer. Do you remember back then? Three months off of no homework, tests, getting up at 7 am to be a school by 8 am.

I do not imagine you look forward to prayer that way do you? Maybe we should... I don't but these thoughts are making me climb out of my box again. Our minds are such powerful tools. We can accomplish so much active imagination...and are free to express ourselves in so many ways through our gifts. Now think about the freedom to pray... to honor Him as the Father of all creation and mankind, and then to be excited to share with Him your day. Just as you do your spouse, your best friend, your mother...create the anticipation of this sharing time with Him.
Honor Him first and thank Him, than share all the thoughts and events that have tumbled through your life since your last conversation. Be eager to share with Him...just like that last da of school waiting for the bell to ring...

Our freedom is precious...look unto Him and give thanks.

"Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.: Philippians 4:9

Wednesday, but I am not clear on where all the time went on Monday and Tuesday as we had Tink here. I did get 10350 steps on my new meter! FOR TUESDAY, not for both days.

Below is a slide show of the two days... we took Lauren on a LONG walk yesterday. That is why I had over 10,000 steps.

Finding peace when there is a tiny one in the house is challenging. She is not quite into a schedule of eating and sleeping but she is only 7 weeks old now. I am thinking soon she will settle in and life will be more balanced for Larry and Stacey.

Inner peace can encompass your entire life. I find it only possible through the presence of God in my life. It is easy to think of the joined together in a marriage ceremony when two become as one, yoked together in their lives; it is easy to slip by the thought of being one in God unless it is a daily thing. Staying centered in His peace is a respite we all long for in our days, but how often do you think of yourself joined to God as one? It is not something that is an "on" "off" switch. I find it woven through out my day in my actions and my words. I relish the time in the word and prayer when I share my heart and listen for Him in my heart. The feeling of peace begins with Him, and you in Him bring peace to those around you.

Stay connected to Him today and discover the peace.

"If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." John 15:7

Tuesday...this morning marks the attitude of Faith. Faith to believe in the limitless and in abundance provided by God.

So often we are drug down by fear or doubt in our lives as our faith is nudged and knocked about. Accept that these times will happen. Accept that we are to be tested and accept that bad things happen to good people. Well, they are bad things to us, but to Him they are good as what happens brings us closer to Him. So when adversity surrounds you, know this is time for you to renew your faith and confirm your belief in our Father. Begin to learn how to tune out the pull of the adversity and turn from the fear and believe in abundance... He will provide.

Jesus showed us over and over again in His teachings and healings that faith opens the door to what we are needing. Inside that door is God's infinite supply of renewable life. He is our guide to finding what is truly important in our lives.

(Tink was over yesterday but I have not unloaded my camera with the pictures. I will wait and do it tonight and post new slides tomorrow. She is getting so big and smiling and gooing back at you.)

Today is an attitude of FAITH... keep the faith and turn your back on fear and adversity. Believe in abundance.

in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms,
hymns, and spiritual songs to God." Colossians 3:16

What is your attitude today? Let start this week with a positive attitude of gratitude. Affirming gratitude brings greater good into your own life. Proven fact. Gratitude is more than thankfulness; it is true awareness of God's presence in every person and every situation in life.

Remember you are in Him now and He is good. He has your ultimate needs in mind as this day unfolds. Be grateful for such a loving Father and give thanks!

Our Tink is coming today... her daddy has more medical tests...and we are ready to get in some more quality hugs and loves! We are full of joy!

Keep the attitude of gratitude...

Laurie

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:19-21

"I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live."--John 11:25

Rain greets the Easter Morning here in Dallas. Much needed rain, but not exactly the ideal thought of a brilliant sunrise on Easter, where you go to early sunrise service and watch or celebrate the SON risen in the sky...

So much is deeper than that and I am only just beginning to grasp it at my age. A sudden light bulb turned on in my head this weekend. Always, ALWAYS, I have shared a testimonial of when I heard God speak to me and the situation I was in and He most clearly said, "I will be there with you, you will not be alone. I will be walking next to you."

For my entire life I have believed that He walks with me and He is with me always. I have written in this blog many times that it is essential to spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word. The light bulb moment which I am still comprehending in slow realization... I have to be in Him. Not necessarily Him in me. I go about my life making my decisions, often with out praying and just knowing He is right there as I make my moves and go off on my will. I truly try and make decisions based on information I have and often spend days and weeks pondering and making lists, (Yes, Daddy, thanks to you I am a list maker...my father ALWAYS had me make lists as a child to identify the pros and cons) and then I make a decision based on all the facts, the probabilities and the possibilities and with prayer...about not just today but trying to look ahead and make wise decisions for tomorrow.

Do you do this? I hope I am not alone in this.

In reality we are driven by our anxieties to control our journey. We are constantly rationalizing our decisions to be the best for us now and our tomorrow. We remain tense and anxious as the days fold out and most of the time it is not anything like we thought it would be. We did it our way and not His way...just like we always do.

Trusting God the Father is the most difficult thing in our human existence. We are driven to distraction worrying about tomorrow and the what ifs and making decisions to protect ourselves from the what ifs. Our anxiety is there; is it from our belief that God is not working on our behalf so we have to step in? If so, we truly do not know the results of pure faith and trust.

Living in Him requires letting go of all those anxieties of worry about tomorrow. Take your job for instance. You have to have a job to pay the bills, have health insurance, feed the family, pay for your car note...and so what? Is your faith so limited that you think God will not provide? This is not a reflection to go become a couch potato...God would not laugh at that one at all. It just seems like much of what we do is based on fear of tomorrow and not trust of today. I believe that the "control" we think we have over our lives is an illusion. Our jobs are important to our life but there are other things more important. Our relationship with God, our family, our parents, our children, our neighbors; living life fully in Him is most important. Taking care of the gifts He has given us first and then sharing what we have with others.

God is not a fairy godmother that waves a magic wand to make things better or the way you want things. You should not question His love for you. He is your Father. He knows what you need before you know what you need. Sometimes He has to take away the things you hold so near and dear so that you realize that are just 'things'. It clears a path for you to come and be in Him...a way for Him to bring you into His life. Morgan, our youngest son said... it is a freedom. He said life truly begins at the point you feel stripped of everything and all you have left is Him. Jesus did it for us, He was stripped of everything earthly, but He was in God.

So on this Easter Morning, as we celebrate the risen Christ, be in Him. Be in Him always, in everything that you do and say.

"Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began," Timothy 2 1:9

When I was sitting in church last week there she was down the pew in her beautiful hat touched by the light from the stain glass window. I sat in awe at the simple beauty and asked her after church if I could snap some pictures... and as you can see she agreed. You will probably see it again as I had her do several poses.

I have not painted like this in a while. Figurative painting is what I mainly did until five years ago when I left the world of fragile realism and stepped out into impressionism and abstract. Every artist grows with their changes and I think every path leads to another challenge and a another door to open.

I believe this season does the same as allowing us to realign our beliefs and bring our life back to center with God. The door stands wide open...will you walk through?

Laurie

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8

"On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul." Psalm 138:3

Through out our daily life, we encounter trials and stresses that begin to drain us of both patience and peace. It is at that moment we need to train ourselves to stop... STOP. Begin to breathe and count and as you do you allow the strength of the Spirit to fill your body with loads of new oxygen. This improves you physically, emotionally and mentally as you face what is there.

I can only begin to scratch the fullness of what Jesus faced... I would be terrified to the point of fainting or having a heart attack I am sure. His Father gave him the strength of soul to carry that cross and finish what was left for Him to do. Today affirm God within the strength of Spirit that is yours, no different than what was there for Jesus. Our small trivial trials are nothing in comparison, but our Father promises to walk with us through all of it.

Remember to call upon this inner power of Spirit whenever you need it. Breathe....slowly... and count.

Yesterday Stacey was over. She had a doctors appt and OMA got to babysit. What fun! Lauren is becoming a true little person with smiles and eyebrow raising... so adorable. Mom aka MEMA came by twice today to hold her and love on her. Uncle Kirk, my youngest brother stopped by as well. Other than that it was Terry and I leaving finger prints all over her...with kiss prints too!
Her Daddy will give her a good bath tonight and all traces will be gone.

"So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

With this season we have had days of reflection of what Jesus was experiencing. With the knowledge of His ascent into Heaven following His resurrection, we are left with a renewing spirit of new birth, or renewal of our spirits. I pray this will be a new beginning of a journey of discovery in Him as you uncover new skills and talents to share with the world.

Let go of the old habits and welcome in the life of today. Heal what is hurting, forgive and move on to joy. Reunite with people and places that are dear to you while you enjoy the new acquaintances. Every person in our lives has a reason to be apart of this season in your life. Grow with it all.

Below find a reminding video...I cried as I watched it. He gave His life up that we may have life.

"Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged." Matthew 7:1-2

I truly dislike can's of worms. Worms are really creepy to me. Seems like "The Shack" started up some grumbles with some folks and others sing praises of the book. I did finish it early yesterday morning and it was good to the last page. GOOD AS IN FICTIONAL READING GOOD. I do not want to misrepresent anything when I have suggested you read the book. IT IS NOT meant to be read for teaching of the Word. It is a good fictional story of how one man deals with tragedy in his mind.

Did any of you all see Gone with the Wind? I am a history teacher...certified history teacher in the state of Texas to teach any flavor of history from American, to Texas to World History. Gone with the Wind is full of total lies on historical facts and what truly happened. As a teacher of American History do I ban this book because of the misrepresentations contained in it, the lies? OR do I educate the class as to the true facts and let them know this movie is an American Classic and the fictional creation of it was to capture and relay a message of times in the civil war and what the population endured. It was not presented as a movie for historical purposes to educate.

Seems I have landed myself in a debate on THE SHACK. I am not a theologian. I do not even want to debate a theologian about this book. IT IS FICTION. I do not want to ruin the book for anyone, but by the time you get to the last chapter you realize what the entire book was based on and it was not based on any facts....It is one writer's tale of a fictional happening to his fictional characters. It was written to capture...oh I can't tell you because that is the ending!

Added books that came to mind were THE SOURCE by James Michener, The LEFT BEHIND SERIES by LaHaye and Jenkins, Harry Potter, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Wizard of Oz, and I could keep listing but I think you fully get the direction. Don't forget the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, trick or treating, the tooth fairy and all the Grimms Fairy Tales....or even the Illiad and the Odyssey. Where do you draw the line. How far back to you retreat from the world? I keep remembering the book bans and burning of Tom Sawyer in the fifties, along with other "bad books."

THE SHACK is adult fiction... a fictional tale of a good story... and the writer included his (Not God's) interpretation of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit...the trinity. From this story for us was a new way to think of some things in our own lives.... my dad with his Alzhiemers, the loss of our grandson two years ago, the journey our family made this year bringing my mom back to full health. Never did we view this book as Biblical based or a book that we would use as a guide to living. My mom finished it yesterday and I believe one brother started his copy last night. When you wonder why bad things happen to good people, you get a new view from THE SHACK. When you wonder why God might take a young child's life, or kill an entire family in a car wreck...you see this author's fictional characters wrestle with their anger and finally come to a peace.

The fictional book, The Shack, will inspire you to think out of the box while you read it. It is not written to be a subversive religious cult or a guide book to God. It is always a matter of choice to read or not to read, just remember it is fiction...and while I am thinking about it, what do you watch on television or at the movies?

My today will turn to cleaning my studio, and getting seriously busy on a 4 x 8 ft canvas commission, as well as sketches for a 30 x 36 inch commission piece.

In what ever you are doing today, know that He is with you. His indwelling spirit is with you through every sleeping and waking moment. When you speak of having God central in your life, or at the top of the list in your life... does He stay there 24/7, or only when you are in the Word or in prayer? He is with you know.... can you feel His presence?

"Seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12:31-32

Yesterday was our trip up to Bonham. We drove Terry's dad up to the VA for some lab work and a quick Doctor visit. We were truly impressed again with the care at this location and the folks that work there. Everyone helpful and friendly. We were in and out pretty darn quick as well.

We were able to pick my dad up and all four of us went to lunch. When we dropped Ben back off at the doctor's office, we took dad back to the VA home where he is living with his Alzheimers. We played two games of pool with Dad. Terry played the first one and I played the second one. It was my first game of pool. I guess we all have to have firsts in our life. I stepped out of the box; Heck I climbed out of the box. I didn't do well with geometry either. But I was able to shove that white ball hard enough finally to actually hit the stripped balls I was suppose to knock in the pockets.

I am going to challenge you today to climb out of your box and do something you have never done before! God will help you.

Grace,
Laurie

"Christ Himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven and earth, the things we can see and the things we can't; the spirit world with its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities; all were made by Christ for His own use and glory. " Colossians 1:16

Jonathan was over yesterday to visit. Mom and I went to church and after church met my eldest son Justin and my grandson, Jonathan for lunch. Then it was a quick trip to Barnes and Noble for THE SHACK for mom to start reading hers. I can't say enough about this book, except GO BUY A COPY of it.

Home we came. Jonathan wanted to make Chocolate Chip Cookies, so we used Aunt Stacey's favorite recipe and that was my downfall as I ate two cookies and they were good! Terry got home and we went for walk. On the walk Jon said he wanted to paint...so we hurried home to do just that. Here is a slide show of him working away...

ENJOY!!!

Jon grew up with us from age 3 to age 6 in our household. He was such a joy then, just as he is now. We wish we could see him more, but they live in another town north of Dallas. I think we will see more of little Lauren since we are going to have her three days a week.

The short times we have with Jonathan are truly special and we try to make every moment count. That is what life is about, making every moment count...but is it making it count for you??? Or for others?

Today we are heading to Bonham with Terry's dad. He has medical appointments at the VA and Terry and I are going to take my dad to lunch while his dad is doing his medical appts. SO I will try to remember to take my camera... and capture what moments I can to make the memory of being with both our dads count.

Laurie
