I should feel like I am on vacation as I have not painted in a few days. This morning I will be painting.

Yesterday was spent mainly at the hospital during daylight hours. What appears to be, is a tad bit of "inconsiderate hurrying" by the Doctor on Call at the OBGYN office. Stacey went in on Wednesday to be checked for early contractions and they determined through a sonogram that the cervix was not as thick as it should be. They did another test to determine if Labor was possible in the next two weeks. Now the on call doctor had the choice of labeling this test STAT for return information immediately and since he was admitting her to the hospital, he also had the option to have the hospital run the test for results in two hours. The goal was to decide if she was in danger of going into full labor this early. When you are in early labor they can stop it temporarily while giving you steroid injections to develop the baby's lungs. He chose to do the regular 24 hour test. Stacey was NOT having regular contractions at this time.

If you knew you could ONLY give the steroids ONE time and they would only last for 7 days to help the baby's lungs, wouldn't you want to know the test results to even know if the patient needed the steroids first?

This on call doctor admitted Stacey and began treatment without test results. Her own Doctor was less than pleased yesterday because she rationally would not have used the steroids if it was not needed. At this point if Stacey were to go into labor in two weeks they could not repeat the steroids to help the baby's lungs; you can only do it once. So the on call doctor blew any back up meds needed for the future by NOT waiting for test results and NOT having them completed quickly before treating.

Life is a learning process and to me this on call Doctor needs to be put on notice that there are lives involved here with his decisions. As humans we are all prone to mistakes on a minute by minute occurrence. Some are more huge than others affecting lives in a domino affect. We are human. God is ultimately in charge, and if this was suppose to be a lesson for that Doctor, I pray he learned it, or will be informed of proper procedures that even a lay person would have figured out given the basic information. Meanwhile Stacey's test results came back late yesterday afternoon and her doctor released her from the hospital to go home for TOTAL bed rest until her next appt at the end of the month. We are so grateful for the negative test and the gift of opportunity she has now of keeping the baby safe for at least four to five more weeks. Please keep Stacey, Larry and Lauren in prayer over this time.

Her cravings yesterday were for Rice Krispy Treats and thick gooey peanut butter. She said she almost called me at five a.m yesterday to fix some to bring. I was lucky. When I went down to the cafeteria to get food for Breakfast, they had Rice Krispy Treats. She ordered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. I am sure Lauren liked that too.

Here are some snaps shot I took at the hospital yesterday.

Living with Joy and being grateful for His continuing Abundance,

Laurie

“And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven” Luke 1:76-78

They're going to be fine, you know...I just know it. Baby is big already. They are adding poundage to her now, but she is big enough to survive. Can't wait to see her! Well, actually, I can - in about 2 more months would be nice! Prayers your way...

Very interesting brush strokes that give the painting a great life and movement.
